"Everything here looks disgusting," I told Emily, as we went through the lunch line.
"Oh, I know. I brought my lunch freshman year, but it's too much of a hassle now. Usually, I just grab a yogurt and a soda."
That didn't sound too bad to me, although I didn't know if I could last till 3 on just a yogurt. Maybe I'll start packing my lunch. I picked up a vanilla yogurt and Sprite. Plain to the max, I thought.
I followed Emily to her table. There was a girl and two guys already there. As I sat down, I saw Emily lean down and peck the girl on the cheek. "Corrigan, meet my girlfriend, Alma." Alma stuck out her hand and gave me a warm smile.
"Nice to meet you," she said.
I took her hand in mine, "Nice to meet you, too. You have beautiful hair." She really did. It was long and sleek.
"Thanks! My mom came from Peru and my dad has Native American roots so that's where I get it." I heard an ahem, so I turned my attention to the two guys at the table. One was blond with a great tan, the other brunet and pale like me. I couldn't help but notice they both had rather nice biceps. I wonder what sports they play.
"Hi, I'm Jimmy," the blonde said. "And this Oliver. He's shy at first but soon you won't be able to get him to shut up." He gave me a toothy grin, while Oliver shot him a nasty look. I could tell he got along with the ladies.
"Nice to meet you two." I turned my attention to the whole table. "Have you all gone here since freshman year?"
"Well, I transferred here in the middle of freshman year, but more or less, yeah," Alma told me.
I nodded my acknowledgment and then turned my attention to my measly lunch. I sat, eating my yogurt slowly, letting the rest of my table talk. I looked around, taking in my surroundings. A familiar face stopped me. There was Pietro, sitting at a table with what looked like jocks. Of course. I'm not surprised. We made eye contact and he gave me a smirk. I quickly turned away, my face red at him catching me looking at him.
I felt a presence behind me so I slowly turned around. I couldn't see exactly who it was because of the bright cafeteria lights, but I realized it was 3 boys. "Can I help you?" I asked politely. I could tell that my whole table had their attention on us.
The one on the right smirked at me, "I don't know, can you?"
His friend punched him. "Shut up, Michael." He turned his attention to me. "We just came over to welcome you to Avon. I'm Chris, that idiot's Michael, and the other one's Ian. If you need anything, we'll be happy to help."
"Oh, well, thanks. I'll let you know." As they turned to walk back to their table I saw Pietro staring them down. My gut got that same twinge as last night, but I assumed it was just hunger. I mean, just a yogurt for lunch?
As I faced my table Jimmy had a knowing smirk while the others looked surprised. "What?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing. It's just that I could tell that-" Jimmy was interrupted by Emily.
"They wanna bang you!" I blushed at her frankness, while Alma punched her arm and told her to pipe down. "What? They totally do! We all could tell."
"Don't mind, Emily," Alma said, giving her girlfriend a pointed look, "I think they were just welcoming a new student."
"No, I think Emily's right. I mean, you don't see them welcoming the other new kid, uh Patrick? do you?" Jimmy said. I tried not to laugh at Jimmy's name for Pietro.
"Peter." Oliver corrected. That was the first word I had heard him speak! I guess I gave him a surprised look because he continued, "I have 2nd period with him." I nodded.
The bell was about to ring, so I threw away my trash and stacked my books. "But really, be careful with those guys, okay? They only ever hurt girls." Emily warned me.
I smiled and thanked her for looking out for me, although I knew I wasn't going to be dating a 17-year-old anytime soon.

I had 6th period with Emily and found out I had 8th with Oliver. I got my own seat on the bus again and put in my headphones. I guess I nodded off because next thing I knew Emily was shaking me awake. "Corrigan, isn't this your stop?'
"Huh? Wha-oh, yeah, thanks." I got my stuff together. "See ya tomorrow!" I called.
As soon as I got home I opened my laptop to report back to Fury what happened that day. I left out the blushing, and the extra people, of course. Just as I was finishing I heard a wham! by my window. Startled, I warmed up my hands in case I needed to use my powers. I opened the curtain and saw hands on the window sill. I opened it and looked down. "So you gonna let me in or what?" asked Pietro.
Huffing, knowing I very well couldn't push him out, I moved aside to let him in. Once he had two feet in I blocked his path again. "What are you doing?" he asked.
"Why are you here?" I asked, frustrated.
"Well, if you would let me in, I can tell you."
"Fine." I got out of his way and sat on my bed. He tried to sit next to me but I pointed him to the office chair instead. Once he sat down, I asked again, "Why are you here?"
"Well, I figured we should meet up every day and compare what we learned so far." I didn't say anything; frustrated that he actually made sense. I think he sensed that because he continued. "So did you talk to any of them today?"
"Yep, Athan is my partner in AP Psych and I had 3 other classes with him. Jacob wasn't here today, but I have 3 with him."
"Missing the first day of school? Isn't that suspicious?"
He made a good point. "I already finished my report, I was just about to send it before I was rudely interrupted." I couldn't help a small smile that made its way onto my face, but I stifled it before he could see. "Maybe there's something in it that will help us." I opened up my laptop to show him. When he came over and sat on my bed, I didn't object. We searched my report and through our records on Jacob, but couldn't find any reason for him not to be there.
I realized we weren't getting anywhere tonight, and I still had homework to do (what kind of teachers give it on the first day?!) so I closed it. I had one question that I wanted to ask him. "Why didn't you just come over through the door like a normal person?"
"Well, I figured your parents wouldn't want us in your room," what is he talking about? We're adults, "But I wanted to be alone with you." He gave me what looked like a genuine smile before I pushed him off the bed.
"You goof! You sound like a love-struck teenager."
He stood up and rubbed his rump, "That was the point! But you didn't have to push me off the bed." He gave me a pouty face. He turned around to pick up my pillow that had fallen off with him, which gave me a nice view of his ass. Damn, I can tell he works out. I wonder how it feels...
I shook my head to get rid of the disturbing thoughts.
"Corrigan! Time for dinner!," I heard my mother call.
I turned to him. "Well, looks like you should go."
"What? Not going to invite me to dinner?"
"Oh, shut up."
