I woke up feeling strangely refreshed. I had woken up before my alarm, so I had plenty of time to shave and wash in the shower. It was going to be a good day, I could tell.

After getting ready, I walked downstairs to see pancakes waiting for me. I gave my mom a kiss on the cheek and thanked her. Even though I know she's not my real mom it's easy to fall into this charade. It's nice to be looked after.

I put my dish in the sink and told my mom I'd be home later. To get to the bus stop I have to walk by Pietro's house so I looked over. As I turn, the devil himself walks out and sees me.

"Hey Allona!" he calls to me.

"Shh!!!! Are you trying to blow our cover?!" I jog over to him and cover his mouth. "It's Corrigan," I hiss.

"Oh...," he has the decency to look sheepish. "I am sorry, I was not thinking-"

"Yeah, yeah," I cut him off, "I'll see you later, okay?"

As I walk away he grabs my wrist. "Wait, Corrigan, don't you want a ride?"

"Um, sorry, Peter, I'd rather not ride with one of your parents. But thanks."

I try to walk away and again he pulls me back. "Oh, you have not heard?" he smirks at me which makes me apprehensive, "I have my own car!"

"What?!" I all but screech. "They gave you your own car and not me? Why? If anyone deserves one it's me!"

"Well, not with that attitude you do not," he chuckles. "So? Are you gonna ride with me or go on the zbernica?"

I yank my wrist from his grasp, "I'll go on the bus, thanks." If looks could kill he'd already be dead.

So much for a good day.

"Alright class, it's time for your first project. Obviously, it will be with the partners you chose on Monday," as Mr. Fredickson took a breath, I gave Athan a charming smile. I knew that this project would give me a chance to get information. He gave me a tentative smile before turning back to listen to Mr. Fredickson.

"Since it's the first one, it's fairly easy. You and your partner need to write biographies about each other, but they need to be detailed and reveal something about the person. For the first paragraph, you need to focus on their parents," yes, this is perfect!, "Were they around for their childhood? How did this shape them as a person? etc. The second paragraph will focus on a major event in their life. They can pick but some suggestions are moving, a sibling birth, a death. Finally, the last body paragraph will be focused on their hobbies and such. I trust you know what that will entail," he gives us all a warm smile. "This will be due in 3 weeks. We will not be working on it in class so you will need to meet outside of school with your partner. Now..." I tuned him out, doodling on my notebook, deciding how the best way to go about this. I already have Athan's number so I decide to text him after school.

Luckily I remembered to pack a lunch last night so I didn't have to deal with the nasty school lunch. Emily was sick today so I was getting to know Alma better.

"So how long have you and Emily been dating?"

"About 8 months now. Honestly, I didn't like her at first. She seemed too outrageous, ya know? But once I got to know her, I realized what a sweetheart she really is."

Before she could continue she was interrupted by a wretching sound from the other side of the table. I turned and gave Jimmy a dirty look. "Just because you're incapable of feeling any emotion besides horny, doesn't mean you should bash on Alma. I think it's nice."

Jimmy looked like I slapped him and Oliver actually let out a genuine laugh. Alma was giggling, and I felt like this year might actually not be so bad.

"Hey! I can feel emotions beside horny!" Jimmy finally got back his ability to speak.

"Oh, yeah? Then why haven't you ever been in a relationship longer than 2 weeks?" Alma asked.

"I - well I haven't - never met - " He tried and failed to explain himself.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'll see you guys later, alright? I'm gonna go try to work on my Pre-Calc." They all gave me waves and goodbyes, although Jimmy still looked a little peeved.

My afternoon classes passed by fast, and I did have some time to work on my Pre-Calc homework, although all I concluded was that I was really awful at it. I decided to go and talk to Miss Williams and see if she could help me.

"Miss Williams?" I knocked in the doorway and entered. "It's Corrigan, I need help with today's homework."

"Oh! Come in, come in! Now, what exactly do you need help with?"

She helped me understand it better, although I was sure I was going to have a problem the next day anyways.

I headed out and knew I was going to have to walk home, there was no way a bus was still there. I didn't mind, though, it was a nice day and gave me some time to think.

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't see the clouds darkening until it was too late. I felt the drops and was soaked right away. I contemplated making a run for it but I was too far away. I trudged along, cursing my terrible luck.

I scoff, I cannot believe that I thought today was going to be a good, even great, day.

I felt a presence beside me and I knew it was a car. I started to rub my hands together in case I needed to defend myself. I heard the window roll down but I kept my face straight ahead, ignoring them.

"Want a ride, princezná?"

I stopped in my tracks as I recognized the pet name. "Go away, Pietro."

"Aw, come on! It is raining! Just get in."

"No. I'm fine. Leave me alone." I continued walking, determined to ignore him. I could tell he was rolling along next me.

"Stop being stubborn, you're going to get sick. Get in."

"Why do you care if I get sick?" I asked, suspicious.

"I don't, míla, but I can't have you sabotaging the mission because you will not get in the damn car."

I growled, upset at his logic.

"Fine. But I hope my wet clothes ruin your leather seats."
