Colin Day, the first American citizen in his Irish family, was born on May 17, 1984, in Trenton, New Jersey, a year after his family had immigrated to the United States. He spent the first few years of his life like any other serial killer: actually quite normal. He enjoyed playing with cars, frolicking in the garden, and exploring the forest with his older brother Liam.
Colin's ideal world was shattered when he started school. Despite being a handsome lad, he was painfully shy and reserved, making him an easy target for the school bullies. But he wasn't one to cry and run away. Instead, he bottled up his anger like a shaken soda can, waiting for the right moment to explode. And when he was eight years old, that moment finally arrived. Colin's stuffed animals became the unlucky victims of his pent-up rage, as he beat them mercilessly.
Unfortunately, his parents were too busy with their own careers to notice their son's descent into madness. His father, Stuart, was a biochemist who spent more time in the lab than at home, while his mother, Heather, was a pharmaceutical representative who traveled for weeks at a time, so no one noticed how Colin was slowly getting deeper and deeper into the vortex of anger.
His worst nightmare came in the form of a boy named Riley Walker, a chubby kid from the local trailer park who loved to dish out insults and beat up everyone who seemed weaker than him. But little did Colin know that Riley had a soft spot for a furry little friend. One day, Colin stumbled upon Riley's secret: a pet rabbit that the bully seemed to love more than anything.
When Riley pushed him too far one day and tied him naked to the school flagpole, Colin saw red. As soon as he was freed, he hopped on his bike and pedaled like a madman to the seedy part of town where Riley lived. Although he felt a little sorry for "Horatio", he knew that the death of the rabbit would hurt Riley the deepest. He slashed the rabbit's belly and scattered the intestines on the meadow. Colin waited under a bush for exactly 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 12 seconds for Riley, who immediately burst into tears at the sight of his dead bunny.
His anger issues continued to escalate, and he found an outlet for his rage in the forest. He began to methodically hunt and kill small animals, believing that it was a way to release his pent-up emotions. Unfortunately, moles, squirrels, and mice were no longer safe from Colin's wrath.
As he grew older, he became more and more of a loner. The bullying had stopped, but he had lost interest in his fellow humans, and even the fairer sex didn't catch his eye until he was 17. It was by chance that he met a girl named Brittany in the city, and they went out for coffee. But when she made fun of his Jersey accent, his anger flared up once again. He tried to play it cool, but deep down, he was seething. That night he committed his first murder, killing Brittany with multiple stab wounds.
Like many serial killers, Colin experienced a euphoria he never thought was possible, and soon he was known in the media as "the bloody bear" because his victims were often horribly dismembered and disfigured. He didn't care, he became more charming and his confidence skyrocketed. The women of Trenton were drawn to him like moths to a flame, making it easy for him to "Pick a vic" as he used to call it.
He began dating a girl named Leyla Winters who was more boobs than brain. But when the police started sniffing around, Colin knew he had to make a run for it. He fled as far as he could, all the way to Juneau, where he rented a room from a sweet old lady. For two weeks, he was a hermit, too scared to venture outside. He was just lying in bed and waiting for the police to knock down his door and throw him into a shabby prison somewhere in the middle of fucking nowhere. But eventually, nothing happened, his confidence returned, and he emerged from his cocoon like a butterfly. He was no longer the shy boy he used to be, but a completely different person, with a dark and dangerous mind.
