Wolf Pack

I watched as my stepdad taught little pups how to transform into a wolf then turn back into a person in the blink of an eye. Some of the kids were getting it but not all of them. We're able to keep our clothes once we've changed into a wolf so none of them are naked. I went into the kitchen a grabbed a hotdog. My stepmother, Sarah Wolf, walked into the room. "Y/n, are you going for a run with your brother?" She asked me.

"Which one?" I asked as I took the hotdog out of the microwave.

She sighed. "Simon is busy running the gift shop. Alexander is busy as our sheriff. Jonathan's going for a run. Will you join him?"

Jonathan was my least favorite brother. But that's only because he never leaves me alone. I wrinkled my nose. "Do I have to?"

"No, but you love running in your wolf form."

"Can I go on a run by myself?" I asked hopefully.

She sighed. "You know it's dangerous to be out on your own, Y/n."

"I'll be careful."

The front door opened and closed. Then Dad walked into the room. "What's going on here?"

"Dad, can I please go running on my own?" I asked.

He hesitated. "Will you be careful?"

"Yes."

"Bring Anna," Mom blurted.

Anna was my best friend and a winter white wolf. I was a night black wolf when I shifted but I didn't care. My e/c eyes turned gold when I shifted like all the rest of the wolves did too. Anaa also is dating my brother Simon who is only a year older than us. Jonathan is two years older and Alex is three years older. I thought for a minute. "I'll ask her." I ran to my room and grabbed my phone. I could use wolf telepathy, which allows us to talk to the others in their heads so we don't need to shift into a human to speak, but she freaked out the last time I did that so I'm just going to use the phone. I dialed and waited. "Hello?" A sleepy voice said.

"You still take naps?" I asked.

She yawned. "Only when I don't sleep at night."

"Ew, that's my brother!"

"You asked."

I growled. "Whatever. I am just calling to ask if you'd go for a run with me. Otherwise, I'm going to be forced to go with Jonathan." I know my parents were listening to the conversation but that's because we still have our wolf senses when we are in human form.

"Running?"

"Yeah. Please? I don't want to go with Jonathan."

She giggled. "I'll be at your house in a few minutes. I just have to let Si know."

"Yuck. Okay." We hung up and I ran downstairs. "She said she'll go. She's going to let Si know."

Mom breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright. Then you can go."

I went out the front door and shifted. I sat on the last step and waited. A white wolf ran over. She gave a doggy grin. >Ready?< She asked.

>Born ready. Let's go.< I ran off toward the forest and she ran after me. I jumped over logs and rocks enjoying the feeling of the wind against my fur. Anna ran around some of the obstacles. >Baby.< I said watching as she walked around a log.

>Am not! I don't enjoy the jumping like you do.<

I sneezed. >Did Si make you promise to be careful?<

She growled. >Yes.<

>I think you're taking it a little too seriously.<

>Didn't anyone tell you to be careful?<
