The first week of school is usually just getting to know each other before you plunge into depth about knowledge on certain subjects. A real waste of time if you ask me. Once it hit the weekend, I essentially just collapsed on my floor and didn't want to talk to anyone.
I heard a knock on the door and Jennifer let herself in. "I don't suppose your weekend plans are full, are they?"
I rolled my eyes, "They aren't full and I don't really want any plans."
Jennifer walked over to my bed and sat on the edge of it. She almost looked like she was scheming something, "You need plans."
"I really don't."
Jennifer laid back on my bed and had a grin on her face, "How about this," she gave me a suspicious grin, "If you find someone to hang out with by...3PM, I won't make you do anything. But if you don't, you must go to Starbucks with me and my friends."
"Ugh, did Dad put you up to this?" I asked.
She shot up, "Absolutely not! I would never obey my father!" She tapped her leg in a fancy rhythm, "Ya, he did."
"It's fine...I'll find someone."
Jennifer got up and left me in my room. I took a deep breath then grabbed my phone. I only wanted to hang out with one person. Felie. I texted her, asking if we could call and she called me a few seconds later.
"Whatcha need?" Felie asked.
I gave a weak chuckle, "My family is forcing me to socialize. It's either you or my sister's friends. Are you at all free?"
Felie smiled, "I'm free right now! My brother came home from college and I've been hanging out with him. You can come hang out with us!"
I sighed in relief, "Thank goodness. I didn't want to go to Starbucks with her friends." I gave her a smile, "What time should I come over?"
Felie leaned over, clearly talking to someone. "What time do you want my fairly emo friend to come over?" I started laughing, "What?"
"I'm not that much of an emo," I told her, "I wear color!"
Felie gave me a look, "Tell me what outfit you're planning on wearing to my house then."
I gave her a look, then bursted out laughing, "I was planning on wearing black," I told her, "But it's just my favorite color and I love wearing it."
"You can come over, but I need to educate you on the rest of the rainbow. Your closet needs me," Felie told me. "I'll text you the address. Come when you want! Bye!" She ended the call, leaving me alone in my dark room. A ding followed up, lighting my room up with the glow of my phone. I sighed and rolled over on my bed.
I looked at the address and laughed, "I was thinking correctly. Ten houses down the street." I got off my bed and stood up to look in the mirror. The jacket I always wore sat next to me, so I grabbed it off my bed and slid it over my arms. I gave the mirror a few poses and fluffed my hair a little bit. Once I gained a moment of confidence, I walked out of my room.
Jennifer was leaning against the railing, drinking a can of Dr. Pepper as she texted one of her friends. "I'm hanging out with Felie," I told Jennifer, "So you don't have to worry about me going with you and your friends."
Jennifer smiled, "You and that Felie girl seem inseparable at school. Have you two been," she sipped her Dr. Pepper with a grin on her face, "connecting?"
I leaned against the wall and rolled my eyes at her, "You think any relationship I ever have with a girl means that I have a crush on them. I may like women, but I don't like all women. If you weren't my sister, I would despise you."
