"I'm sorry did you say Louisiana?? Where is that even at? It sounds 'country'." I say, faking a deep southern accent.
"Well you're close.." mom says "It's in the United States and it is indeed in the Deep South."
"Mom....this is a huge change. How do I even start to wrap my head around this?"
"You'll figure it out darling. I know how smart you are. I'm in the same situation myself. We'll figure it out together," Mom says while drawing me in for a tight hug.
2 months later the mother and daughter duo were flying out of Essex.
"Hey Mom..."
"Yes darling?"
"How do you pronounce these names? Thibodeaux, Nachitoches, Atchafalaya?? I took French and even I can't figure these out!"
"Now Eloise, you and me are both in the same situation here. Do you really think I would know more than you when it comes to things like that? I'm more concerned with moving into our apartment, setting up all of our insurances and banks and...."
I begin to zone out while looking out the window. I start to think back on all the memories I made while living in Essex. I did miss it, but a part of me is ready for a change...and maybe even a little adventure.
