Watch Your Step

It was lunchtime now and I was a little anxious. I went to the cafeteria to try and find my friend, but then I realized I didn't know his name and this cafeteria is big and very busy. I start frantically looking around, hoping I would see his face. I must have not been looking where I was going because I ran straight into a guy with the build of a double-decker bus.

"Hey, watch your step loony bin!"

"Haha, looney bin! That's a good one Bo!"

I look at both of them cackling to themselves and think to myself "Every school has to have one," as I roll my eyes. I start to walk away when one of them grabs my arm that was holding the books for my next class. They go flying as I turn around to Bo, who had a smirk plastered on his face and a look in his eyes that just seemed...well mean.

"I wasn't done talking to you, weirdo!"

"Well she was done talking to you, Bo-Bo."

I look to my left side and see Amethyst, with one hand on her hip and the apple from my tray in the other. She winds her hand back as if to throw it until-

"NO NO! We were just playing! Ask her! You didn't mind it did you?"

I look back at Amethyst with a grin as we both locked eyes.

"Actually I did mind a little," I say with a smug grin as I look at my nails like all the preppy girls do.

"Well you heard the girl. Guess it's time to teach y'all a lesson ya momma ain't taught ya!"

The 2 idiots didn't waste any time to run away pushing each other out of the way as they got out of there. Me and Amethyst looked at each other and after a brief pause, busted out laughing.

"Did you see the way they looked at you?!" I said to Amethyst while wheezing.

"Yeah, girl! Did you see the way they looked at you?!

"Yeah. I've never done anything like that before...but I think I liked it!"

"You got some spunk! We could use that!"

I stop laughing.

"We?"

"Yeah me and my groupies!" Amethyst says while throwing the apple up and down in her hand repeatedly. "They'd love you, England!"

I ignore the fact that she just called me England and jump straight to:

"Are you all whatever a coven is? My friend told me about it some and I was just...curious..you know?"

She stops laughing and looks at me with a solemn look on her face and whispers "How did you know?"

I freeze and feel my heart drop to my stomach. I still didn't know what a coven was but I got the feeling it wasn't good. I guess she can read the look on my face and starts laughing again. She puts her hand on my shoulder.

"I was just playin'! You shoulda seen your face!"

I let out a forced laugh because I still don't know what's going on.

"Yeah of course. I was joking too."

"You're hilarious! No, we just hang out and watch scary movies together over at my place. Sometimes there's booze involved." She says while whispering the last part.

"Oh okay."

I start to loosen up some knowing I wasn't in any real danger. Little did I know, there was someone watching the interaction the whole time.
