Astoria Greengrass's year at Hogwarts was very well she has friends, was friendly with others. She has been popular because of her charm, intelligence and kindness which made some few fellow Slytherin students endeared to her. It wasn't long before she started spending time with a friendly, outgoing guy in their year, Adrian Pucey.
One evening, after a particularly engaging Charms class, Astoria found herself in a lively conversation with Adrian in the common room. They shared jokes and laughter, and Astoria was thoroughly enjoying herself. Unbeknownst to her, Draco had been watching the exchange from a distance.
Draco, usually aloof and uninterested in such interactions, felt a surge of jealousy coursing through him. He couldn't understand why he was so possessive of Astoria, especially considering the conflicted emotions he'd been experiencing. But watching her laugh and chat with Adrian ignited a green-eyed monster within him.
Unable to contain his frustration, Draco stormed over to where Astoria and Adrian were seated. "Greengrass," he barked, his tone harsher than he had intended.
Astoria turned to face him, surprise and confusion written across her features. "Yes, Draco?"
Draco's jaw tightened as he struggled to find the right words. "We need to discuss the Potions assignment. Professor Slughorn expects us to work together."Astoria exchanged a regretful look with Adrian, excusing herself from the conversation and following Draco to a quieter corner of the common room. The tension was palpable.
Once they were alone, Astoria spoke in a hushed tone. "Draco, I was just having a conversation with Adrian. It wasn't anything serious. Is there something wrong?"Draco's internal battle continued as he tried to mask his true feelings. "It's none of my concern who you talk to. But if you want to do well in Potions, you should focus on the assignment."
Astoria nodded, her concern evident in her eyes. "Of course, Draco. I appreciate your help with the assignment."
As Draco watched her walk away, he couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration mixed with regret. He knew he was acting irrationally and that his emotions were getting the best of him. But the thought of Astoria being close to anyone other than him had awakened a possessiveness he couldn't ignore.
In the days that followed, Draco's jealousy would continue to simmer beneath the surface, threatening to reveal the growing feelings he had for Astoria and the internal struggle he faced. The green-eyed monster that had been awoken within him had no intention of going back to sleep.
