Vanessa Morgan - Goodbye
-"Your name?"
"Shannon." She sat sassily.
"How do you know Oya."
"I just go to school with her I guess."
"You guess?"
"Well I never spoke to her, I was just called in by the principal."
"You sat behind her in class."
"I did."
"How was she recently."
"She was always dozing off in class I don't know maybe she was overworking her brain or something. Hold on did my parents agree to have me speak?"
"They did so please collaborate as much as possible."
"Okay Sir."
"Officer is better." Jude said in the background standing at the door.
"Okay Officer."
"So could you tell us what's the word around her."
"Nothing till she started hanging out with Jayke. People couldn't tell if they were dating or friends honestly. Some girls didn't like that so the whispers kept going but I would never think they'd go as for as to harm her."
"Okay so she's a loner."
"Pretty much she never spoke of it wasn't to Anne Saturi."
"Is Anne more popular than her."
"She won't say it but her mom is a Teacher here so people know her by default. That's why her grades are always perfect if she failed yikes her mom would already know."
"Right, yikes." Jude mocked
"Do you realize a classmate is missing."
She remained quiet for a while.
"They only told us yesterday I don't think you really let it sink in. The whole school is starting to think Jayke did it and talk is talk but Jayke is a sweetheart that's all I'll say."
"Why do you think that."
"When has he ever been an asshole..."
———
Jayke sat in last period trying to concentrate but kept looking at Oya' seat. His eyes were sucked for how restless he's been his nightmares now almost night terrors and Oya' sweet voice kept calling him. He felt he was losing his mind. He ruffled his hair before seeing some people were starring at him from afar. He looked back at his notes and continued following the teacher.
I miss you
He felt a cold air kiss his ear. He didn't understand what was happening to him so he decided he'd just skip the rest of the class. He grabbed his stuff in a hurry and started dashing out the door ignoring the Teacher's warning. As he walked the halls he made eye contact with the two officers that spoke with the principal. He passed them and went to his car sitting leaving the ax on to cool his mind. He started driving aimlessly and ended up on the highway.
He went faster then the limit and something told his to
"Stop!"
He could have sworn he saw Oya. For the amount of accidents that were happening here in the past week. He abruptly came to a stop and swerved a little. He drove to the side and walked out the car to lean on the other side.
"Fuck!" He yelled
"Jayke." He heard again.
"Fuck what do you want!"
He looked around and saw no one. He slapped his ears and kneeled. His emotions kick started a panic attack. His breathing changed and his throat felt like he was suffocating in pain. His vision became nothing but a blur miles ahead. He yelled again.
"Oya if it's you where the fuck are you."
The voice came like a blur he felt like he could always here her speaking.
"I need your help." Clear as day.
He looked around once more to make sure he wasn't loosing it but still no vision. He couldn't understand what kind of tricks his brain was playing with him. He felt her so close to him but yet so far.
If only he could hear the voice constantly.
"I promise you I'll do everything to help."
The voice came back as a blur till it came whacking in his ear.
"I'm fine please get better."
He heard the soft tone of her voice comforting him and it worked. It really did and she was thankful. He felt like he could rest for a little. Like his heart was connecting to her in some sort of way even if the voice was nothing but a voice. He would let in intertwine in his being if he could.
