Why does she look so cute and formal this is a high school party. He looked at her makeup and the natural hair that always magically rested perfectly on her shoulder. She swooped it to the side while looking at her.
"I said ok. Jayke?"
He snapped out of it.
"Yeah it's just if we got into an accident I wouldn't know what to do."
"We won't get into an accident Mr. driver. I trust you."
Mr?
He smiled all geeked.
"Alright let's go."
He started driving. The air was quiet so he turned on his music loud before rolling down the window.
"Jayke?" Her soft voice melted his ears.
"Yeah?"
"I wanted to ask you..."
He waited for her to continue.
"I mean I'm just wondering but I feel. Well I feel like something is going on."
He turned at the red light while leaning back.
"Something like." He didn't really think much himself but maybe when it came to interactions with her he put an effort.
"What are we doing."
"Yeah good question. I think whatever you're feeling I'm feeling I'll be straight up."
"Well what if you're wrong and it's different for you."
"It can't be that different. We're not stupid." He started driving again.
"Well Jayke I like you." She said her breathing becoming irregular.
Jayke looked at her through the rear view mirror.
"I felt that too but I'll be honest I've liked your vibe for a while now. You know there was this time I saw your friend and a family event and I thought I'd see you, you girls are always together."
She smiled never expecting this in reality.
"I don't want to weird you out but she's told me that story before it's one of my favorites."
He laughs historically with his hand to the mouth.
"Woah. I didn't think you liked me that much. You know what, I'll take you this winter, but this time it will be a date.
They couldn't keep themselves contained.
"I'm really happy I just couldn't figure us out if we were friends or is something was going on."
"I just wanted to go along with you but you're so stinking shy, I had to make the move but you seem like the girl to make the first move and clearly you are."
"Well then if that's all you had to say." She came across her seat and kissed his cheek and looked at him.
I'd like one here better. He pointed at his lips at the other red light.
She looked at his eyes then his lips. They were perfectly plum to her. From his hair to his nose to the shizzled jaw that she loved seeing every last period. She got closer and stoped before going in and kissing him.
Soft and slowly.
Her hips moved toward him, his right hand left the stick to on top of her waist to push her in.
The lip balm tasted so sweet that he bit her lower lip before sucking it lightly.
BEEP
They stopped and looked at each other a weird but acceptable feeling ran through them. This is exactly how he imagined it.
He didn't move the car and they passed him.
"Aren't we moving too fast?"
He shook his head speechless.
"Green light Jayke."
He looked forward and the side and the man swearing his heart out through the darker tinted window. They both laughed and he started driving as she sat back down
"Wh-"
"Ho-""You first-"
"You first-""Okay you go first." Oya said putting one leg on the seat. "How long did you like me for."
"I think freshman year when I saw you trying out for the team it was pure love." She messed up.
Ah fuck
"I meant at the game."
" I see."
She started dancing to his Afro beat to ignore what just happened.
"What about you what we're you going to say."
"Right." He watched her whine "Are you drunk already?" He asked "Pre gamed a little?"
"No ha, do I look it."
"Not really but you're much more loose."
"That's my secret out of school I shift into a vampire." He joked.
"Yeah some vampire."
"Right your the one that bit me." She pointed at her lip.
"And I'd do it again." He looked at her with striking eyes.
She couldn't say anything.
"What we're you going to say though-"
"Why didn't you talk to me all week after the homecoming game."
"Well, first I was shy. Plus I didn't know what to say to you, even a simply "hi" seemed like too much."
"Okay but still we had great convos till now I thought you'd come up to me in class and ask me for like school work again or something." He reminded her.
"Oh please don't come after my notes. I was very tired that day."
"Yeah yeah sleepy head."
They pulled into a drive way with other cars already parked all around and the beat of the music reached out and through the car. He got out the car and opened the door for Oya.
"Okay let's have some fun." He held his hand out so she wouldn't step her heels onto her dress.
