A/N - Hey, sorry for the delay. I was hoping to post sooner, but I got so busy with Hockey season, and apparently, I got roped into helping my friend get her league started, so I lost a couple of days this week.

Warning - Mention of alcohol and abuse.

"And I'd choose you; in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any versions of reality, I'd find you, and I'd choose you." - Kiersten White.

Scarlett POV

"Good to see you, Scarlett. You are looking well." Reeses says as he pulls me into a hug. "Don't worry, we'll protect each other, and I'll get her home." He whispers in my ear so no one else can hear. Y/N is busy hugging Rose and playing peekaboo with Lily, who's giggling in her baby stroller. It is deployment day, and I'm trying not to break it down to make it easier for Y/N. Although Reeses words give me strength, I know nothing will happen to her if he's around.

"Thank you," I whisper back. He gave me a bright smile as he pulled out of the embrace and walked toward the plane.

Most of Kel's squad is already deployed and waiting for them. The only ones who haven't deployed are Y/N, Reeses and Kel since they needed more time to recover. I can tell Kel is anxious to get back with her squad since she's been pacing back and forth since she arrived. Even her family had difficulty getting her to relax so they could say goodbye.

"Kel, if you don't relax, you'll put a pothole in the tarmac with that pacing." Y/N doesn't look up from the stroller or Rose when her voice breaks the momentary silence.

I watch as Kel stops in her path, and I almost think she's about to chew Y/N out since she starts biting the side of her cheek. However, she huffs before walking over to Mary and Alycia, pulling them into a hug before saying her last goodbyes.

"I don't want you to leave." Rose whines. Y/N picks her up, stands and sits her on her hip. Lily had fallen asleep. Y/N seemed to have the perfect touch when it came to Lily. She could always get her to sleep almost instantly. No matter how wound up she got, a few simple rocks or her soft tone, she'd be asleep. That support is one thing I'll miss when she's gone. When I got overwhelmed, she'd know instantly, and I would always find a way to take Rose and Lily to have a moment to myself. I'm not sure how I'll cope without her.

"I know, Rosebud, but it's like when Mom needs to leave for work. The only difference is it's a little longer, and unfortunately, you can't come to visit, but I promise we will talk as much as possible. So much you'll be sick of me." She cooed as she boped her nose, sending her into a fit of laughter. All I could do was gaze at her other with all my love. We had said all we needed to say to each other before arriving at the tarmac.

My mind goes back to Kelsie and Morgan's wedding at the end of May. It took Y/N nearly two weeks to convince me to attend. I didn't want to leave Lily, but she promised we wouldn't stay late and it would be good for me to get out of the hospital. However, she only convinced me because she asked Taylor if she could borrow her private Jet. The wedding was near Big Sur, which was nearly 6 hours away from LA and the hospital. Regardless of how much it hurt being away from Lily, it was a welcomed break.
