The Nobody

Chapter 18

The others come over a few hours later. They are ready to go into the mirror world we all stand around the door as Andy gets ready to open it. Once he does the air gets a little icy and the room through the door is like a mirror that shimmers Andy walks through it and we follow soon after. It felt like my body was under water as we go through once inside, the room becomes different and the other Ruby I met the other day is waiting for us she smiles as she sees us all there. "You made it all, of you thank you for coming I will lead you to where the others are if you would follow me," she says as she turns away from us.

At first no one moves but then I brush past Sam and Andy and I follow her I can hear the others following close behind me. We walk for a while and everyone takes a look around the place and takes in the sights of this world. Even though I was familiar with it, it was different for the others as they have never seen this place before. We finally reach our destination as we see a room full of people they all turn around when we enter the room.

I couldn't help but feel my face getting hot as I see all of the stares. "The floor is all yours Ruby everyone has been waiting for this moment for you to come and help us" says the other Ruby. I look around and take a deep breath before standing in the middle of the room to speak I look over at Andy before I begin to talk. "I honestly have no idea what I am doing or how I can save your world but I am willing to try I am done hiding and running away. I want to be seen for once so if anyone has any ideas on how this world is falling apart feel free to speak" I wait for a moment as my words sink in.

Everyone in the room talks amongst themselves as they process my words I wait patiently I felt someone taking my hand and I turn around to see Andy and the others smiling at me I squeeze Andy's hand and smile at the others before turning back around to face the group.

As I was facing the group again I can see movement in the corner of my eye I turn to look and noticed that there was a group filing in the room everyone who was already in the room gasped and started to back away the leader of the group a tall man with a goatee.

Had a sinister look on his face came waltzing in like he owned the place I could sense that he was trouble by the way it emitted from his body. His eyes were trained on us and the sneer on his face only grew wider as he took a step towards us. I could feel this overwhelming urge to step back and out of this man's way.

But I pushed it down I knew that was what he wanted and I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of seeing me squirm under his gaze like he wanted me to. "Well if it isn't the doubles I thought I told you to leave and not come back," he said in a dangerous tone. His eyes narrowed as he said that.

"I'm sorry I don't remember hearing you say that" I say feigning innocence. He throws his head back and laughs as if it's the funniest thing for him to hear someone say that he looks down at me with those cold eyes of his before he speaks again. "Don't play games with me little girl I have been living longer then you have been alive.

We have been living in this world of ours for centuries and then you doubles started to show up and ruin everything our world started cracking and breaking as the more of you showed up in this world. I knew what I had to do when I saw what was happening I knew it was up to me to put a stop to this.

It's my sworn duty to protect this world from the likes of you. I have been patient long enough I think it's about time to end this right here and now," he says with a roar his followers are soon following his lead and roars along with him I could feel people starting to panic in the room as he stops.

I prepare myself for what's to come I just knew that there was going to be chaos and destruction headed this way. Sure enough everyone started to panic and leave the room me and my friends stepped aside as everyone left and we were left with him and his men. I didn't even flinch or look away when he was staring at me the whole time while everyone ran out of the room.

"You know that is got to be the most stupidest way to show me that you can clear a room like that" I say laughing. He started to walk towards me as I spoke and we were face to face there was not an inch of space between us. "I can do more then just clear a room I can hurt you little girl don't test my patience if you know what's good for you" he says to me

I put my hands on his chest and I push him away from me I can feel the others closing in behind me as they watch the scene unfold they stepped closer to me as if letting me know that they have my back and that I am not alone. I can feel my strength and encouragement coursing through me as I felt my friends by my side.

"I think you are wrong I don't think it's the doubles causing your world to break I think you are I believe you are just using us as an excuse to hide what you have done to this place" I say as I looked him in the eyes. He just stands there in silence and I wait holding my breath before he speaks.

"Then tell me how we are doing this then?" he asks in a mocking tone. "I'm not sure but I will find out the truth and I will bring you down" I say with determination in my voice. I could see a flicker of emotion pass across his face before it disappeared again.

I knew that there was nothing more to say so I grab the others and we leave the room I can feel his eyes following me as we leave we find the other Ruby and the others waiting for us as we exit the room. The silence is deafening I look at everyone in the eye slowly but carefully. Some looked scared, some looked angry. Even though I could see all of that I can see the determination in their eyes as they all looked at me.

"We are sorry that we took off running it's just a lot to take in this whole time we have been scared of them. What they could do to us how they could hurt us. But we are done running we want to stop what is happening to our world and we will do whatever it takes to make this right.

We don't know what might have caused our world to be falling apart it could be that this world is old or that we have been doing things wrong here. All we know for certain is that we don't want to lose our home" one of them says. I let their words sink in as I look at the many lives that have been changed due to their world falling apart.

They have every right to be afraid who wouldn't? After living in a world for so long that you have called home. It could be a heavy burden to find out that, that home can be taken from you that everything you known or believed in is being turned upside down. But these people wanted to change whatever was going on they didn't want to run anymore. They were just like me.
