Chapter 12: Kenny Grows Some Balls

he waited until lunch to speak with his friends

leo and him shared alot of classes together and hung out constantly in between classes and free period; if he went to speak with his other friends in private it would cause suspison and he didn't want butters to figure out what he was trying to do; he knew him way to well

lunch was the perfect opportunity; leo either sat alone or with the girls, either option was good as he would be too far away from ear-shot to listen in on their conversation

he spotted leo sitting at the far end corner of the cafeteria, his tray of food scooted away as he wrote in his notebook listening to music with his headphones; perfect he wouldn't be able to overhear his plan

he sat by stan and put his tray of food in front, he hadn't realized his hands were shaking until tolkien asked him what was wrong while the others looked at him with worried glances, with a deep breath he exhaled and tried to calm his nerves; despite seeing his adrenaline levels reaching through the roof

"guys! I really need your help"

"sure dude what's going on"

they were never gonna let him live this down; 6 years he spent denying and hiding away his feelings for leo and now here he was coming to them in a desperate attempt to finally ask him out

"I..i couldn't stop thinking about butters last night"

He wasn't surprised by their reactions, Kyle, Stan and Tolkien fixed him with a blank stare, clyde looked like he was about to say something outlandish but was stopped by tolkien's mom glare, craig however stared at him with a monotone voice

"yeah you're gay for him what else is new?"

he blushed scowling

"i'm serious!, last night i couldn't stop tossing and turning, i couldn't even sleep until 3 am in the morning, my chest is still hurting from how fast and loud it was beating and i still have a headache about it"

his anxiety was coming out full force and he felt like he was drowning in nerves 

"i feel like I'm going insane!! it's literally killing me"

he felt kyle's ran running down his back

"hey calm down just take a few deep breath man"

with his voice and soothing gesture, he managed to steady himself and brought his voice to a lower decibel

"i wanna ask him out and i wanna do it today"

they all gaped at him, wide in the eye

"holy shit are you serious?!"

"if i don't do this now i'm gonna chicken out and i won't have the courage to this again!"

"well took you long enough to grow some balls dude"

"be a dick later craig! I need help!! how to do this without fucking everything up?!"

"you've asked out tons of chicks before what's the difference"

"this isn't some fling clyde this is butters!, i can't mess this up or else i risk losing him as a friend!!"

"hey relax"

tolkien tapped his hand, giving him a reassuring smile

"just take it easy, we'll help you out"

"y-you will"

"oh course dude but don't expect us not to tease you about it later"

"fuck you and thank you"

"so what's the plan?"
