Seeing Troln stepping out from the tree line had sent a shock of fear through Carly, bringing forward painful memories of what Hydra had done to her. It took her a few minutes to realise that Loki had stepped protectively in front of her, allowing her to calm down and collect herself. As the Hydra commander spoke, sending a shiver down her spine, she knew that there was no way he would leave Loki alone if she went with them.
She knew Loki had no weapons as, even though the Avengers believed him about being controlled until recently, they still didn't trust him. She herself had no weapons aside from her Seidhr and with Loki not having access to his she knew that the odds were not in their favor. When Loki assured her that she would not hurt him the surety in his eyes bolstered her and she reached for her Seidhr, gathering it together.
Hearing Troln order his men to take them both Carly released her Seidhr in a powerful wave, creating an ice storm which spread spears of ice aimed at the Hydra agents. Many managed to dodge the spears but a few were not so quick, being pierced through different limbs, pinning them where they stood. As she moved to attack the Hydra soldiers Carly fleetingly realised that she was moving in tandem with Loki, hail blowing around the pair as they almost danced around the men who were trying to get a clear shot. Carly created a pair of daggers with ice and passed them to Loki before creating more. Between the expert use of the ice daggers and Seidhr Carly and Loki moved gracefully and effortlessly around the area killing the men with minimal resistance. As they fought the temperature continued to fall dramatically as Carly used more of her powers, causing the Hydra soldiers to slow and shiver. The few shots that had been fired had either missed or come into contact with ice shards that Carly had created to protect them. It wasn't long before the Hydra soldiers were either encased in ice or dead.
Carly knew that she wasn't uninjured but it was nothing serious. A couple of the soldiers had managed to get some hits in, one even pulling out his own knife resulting in Carly receiving a few cuts and what would no doubt become spectacular bruising. Glancing around the newly created glacier wasteland Carly let out a relieved breath as she saw Loki stood with his back to her. As the God of Mischief slowly turned her breath caught in her throat. His once pale skin was blue. It was not an unhealthy shade as though he was freezing, but looked to be almost natural with raised markings on his face and hands. Looking into his eyes she was surprised when she didn't see the soulful emerald gaze she was familiar with. Instead she was met with a rich ruby red gaze which looked sad and almost ashamed.
Before she could say anything movement behind Loki drew her attention. Troln stepped out from behind a large ice shard a sadistic grin on his face, gun aimed at Loki. Feeling her eyes widen in fear for her friend she took a step forward just as a loud bang filled the air and Loki's ruby eyes widened in pain and surprise as he gasped painfully.
"LOKI!!" His name tore from her throat in pain and anguish. "NO!!!"
As the God of Mischief fell to the ground Carly felt something within her mind give, memories flooding through her mind. Her eyes focused on the still figure now lying on the ground in front of her as anger and despair flooded through her. Allowing her Seidhr to build fast she turned her gaze to the man who had haunted her dreams for the past few years and cast her hands towards him. As she did so ice shards as strong as crystals and as large as spears flew towards him, impaling him through his chest, one going through his heart. The look of shock on Trolns face did not even register with Carly as she rushed to Loki's side, gathering as much Seidhr as she could. Crashing to her knees she turned the injured God over, cradling him to her.
"Loki!" she gasped gently touching his cheek with trembling fingers. "Oh Loki, this is my fault!"
"Lady Carly.." he gasped painfully as he opened his ruby eyes. "You....... Don't touch........ I... I don't want to........ to hurt you.." The anguish in his voice touched her deeply but left her slightly confused.
