Esmeray clutched her bleeding arm and forced herself to look up from the ground.
He was finally defeated. This was the end of Lord Voldemort's terror.
Everyone was either rejoicing, or was kneeling beside lifeless bodies, crying their hearts out.
But, Esmeray didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to feel. Happiness? Can't be, her parents were dead. Sadness? Couldn't be either, she'd hated her parents, and Voldemort.
Confusion seemed more like it. Not knowing what to feel.
She scanned her surroundings, and spotted Draco running away with parents. Esmeray scrunched up her nose in disgust.
Is that all he cared about? Himself?
'What an amazing human being,' Esmeray thought. She spotted a mop of red hair making its way through to her, and recognized it to be Ginny Weasley.
Ray and Ginny have talked a few times, but not so much. Just a few 'Hi's' and 'Bye's' here and there. Then again, when has she ever had a full-on conversation with someone?
"Hey, Esmeray!" Ginny greeted.
"Hey." Esmeray awkwardly said. There was something up with Ginny's tone that suggested she was being sarcastic.
"Why didn't go with Draco?" She asked, or more like, sneered.
"Oh, I thought I should hang back over here, it didn't feel right to leave you all..." Esmeray replied, waving her hand around. The moment those words left her mouth, she regretted her decision. Something told her Ginny was not going to like that.
And she was right.
"Why? Had to destroy more lives? Honestly, Esmeray, just leave. You're a Lestrange. Besides you never even talked to anyone, so really, no one cares. Just disappear off to somewhere." Ginny snarled and stalked off before Esmeray could say anything.
Esmeray's eyes brimmed with tears. She had thought of Ginny like a friend. Sure, they didn't talk much, but it was still Ray who comforted Ginny after she'd heard Harry and Cho kissed. She was the one who managed to convince her to kiss Harry when she'd gotten the chance.
And how does she repay her? By breaking her heart, not letting her say a word, and criticize her very existence.
Just peachy.
Ray, still hugging her wounded arm, walked out of there, crying silently. She earned many snickers, giggles and glares her way, but she simply didn't care anymore. All she knew was she had to get out of here.
Out of this shithole.
People may say Hogwarts has been great for them, but to her, it will always be a dreadful place. Simply because she had been born into a Death Eater family.
But, she wasn't like them. She never was. It was proven time and time again, when she was sorted into Gryffindor, and again, when she chose to fight against her own parents. She'd even dared to put forth her name into the Goblet of Fire, the year it all started.
'Don't think about it,' she told herself. 'You'll only make things worse.'
She didn't know where she was going. And she didn't care, either. It's not like she has a family to return to. All she knew was to keep walking. Keep walking.
'Because this might as well be the only thing you're good at,' she thought. 'Disappear into nothingness, will ya, it would be very much appreciated.'
She suddenly felt light-headed and dizzy. She immediately found a place to sit down and placed a hand over her head to stop it from spinning. But it was no use. She was going to black out, and she knew it.
All she saw was a dark figure approaching her before the surrounding darkness took over.
