"Can we go to the store after" Kiara whispered to Jada bored out of her mind in their history class.

"Sure" Jada mumbled half asleep in the dimmed classroom, all you could hear was the teachers soft spoken voice in the warm classroom.

Fall had started to come in, bringing in a cold breeze threw the town.

"Nicole" Kiara yelled at the girl from the other side of the hallway, who turned around in confusion.
"Hi, yall good?" Nicole asked because she hadn't seen them earlier.

"Yeah were going to go get some snacks you wanna come" Jada asked
"Sure ima get there in like 5 I gotta do sum first" the girl explained. Kiara and Jada both nodding their heads in response and exiting the building.

"What are we thinking for Halloween?" Kiara asked already thinking of the costume she was gonna have on.

"Maybe like a police officer? Wonder Woman?" Jada suggested quite uninterested in the topic.

"I wanna do play boy bunny but in all baby pink" Kiara suggested.
"A classic" Jada nodded liking the suggestion as they entered the store.

"Hi Ashtray" Kiara said to the boy stood by the register counting money.

"Sup," the boy nodded, glancing up, his eyes locking onto Jada, who appeared utterly bored.

"You lookin for sum?" Ash asked glaring between the two that stood in front of him.

"No, we came here to see you. What do you think, dumbass?" Jada remarked, her tone laced with annoyance.

Ashtray looked quite shocked and taken back by the all of a sudden sass from the girl, making her giggle at him.

"I'm gonna check for some twinkies ima be back" Kiara said walking to the other side of the store.

"You're so easy to offend" Jada giggled looking at the annoyed boy infront of her.

"You ain't funny," Ash said sternly, rolling his eyes at Jada. a grin crept up on her face, her amusement shining through despite his attempt to stay serious.

"That's probably one of the fattest lies I've ever heard" Jada sarcastically commented making ash roll his eyes at the girl once again because of her childishness.

"Damn I'm so glad we don't work here anymore" Nicole sighed entering the shop seeing ashtray looking pissed of.

Making Jada burst out into laughter.
"Y'all are bugging" ash commented glaring at the two.

"We need to celebrate" Jada suggested earning a dead pan from ash. Kiara then interrupted walked back to the till with two twinkies and two Red Bulls.
"Is that all?" Ash asked receiving a nod from her.

She then handed the money to him placing the dollar bills on the counter, which he then took placing them in the till.

"Nah, I can't. I have a date with David today," Nicole cheesed, her face beaming with excitement.

A surprised expression crept up on Jada's face, her lips parting in genuine surprise at the unexpected news.

"The fuck is he going on dates for" Ash interrupted earning I sync side eye from the three teens.

"Look lil boy I understand that you ain't romantic but you don't gotta shut down your home boy for it" Jada said sniggering with her two friends at ashtrays once again dead pan.

The boy had quite frankly given up on defending himself.

"Alright y'all I gotta dip ima see yall tomorrow, except you ash I hope I never stumble upon you again" Nicole sarcastically said leaving the store having the last words, not giving ash a chance to reply with a snarky remark.

"Wanna go grab sum to eat" ash randomly said.
Jada looked over at Kiara who nodded back saying "sure".

The boy jingled the keys in his pocket, locking up the store with a satisfied click. "McDonald's?" he suggested, turning to the others.

"Sounds good to me," Kiara chimed in, linking arms with Jada as they strolled down the emptying streets.

The trio headed towards McDonald's, the golden arches glowing in the crisp fall night.

Ashtray led the way, the jingling of his keys providing a rhythmic backdrop to their footsteps.

As they approached the familiar fast-food joint, the scent of fries and burgers wafted through the air, triggering a collective anticipation.

The warm glow of the restaurant welcomed them as they stepped inside, a stark contrast to the chilly breeze outside.

Ordering their favorites, they settled into a corner booth, the plastic seats creaking as they got comfortable.

Jada couldn't help but notice Ashtray seemed less annoyed and more relaxed outside the confines of the store, which made her smile to herself at the what seemed happy boy.
