I groaned as I woke up. I thought this kid hit hard before. Ha! Nope! It must have taken me a good five minutes just to sit up. I noted a conversation taking place around me, but I couldn't make anything out until the ringing in my ears subsided. I looked around at the rest of the room, deserted but for the handful of barely conscious Avengers in various states around the room.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., gimme the time?" Stark groaned
"It is 12:15 Post Meridian, Sir."
I let out a breath I didn't know I'd been holding. We got there at 12:10, from what I remembered. That meant there wasn't a whole lot of time for 'unconscious Avengers' to circulate the internet. I never would have heard the end of it from Laura if she'd seen it.
Wait...that means he managed to beat us in less than five minutes this time around!
Someone groaned off to my right and my eyebrows shot up when I realized it was Nat. She had an arm draped over her eyes. "Normally, I'm always up for a fight...but why can't we just get him to come peacefully?" She groaned with a slight lilt laced into her usual monotone.
I smirked slightly at this small show of emotion. She'd managed to loosen up quite a bit around me, but she was still very cautious around the rest of the Avengers. However, if I ever commented on, say, her smile: she wouldn't show one for a month. So I thought I'd hide my amusement by taking the initiative to sit up.
Let me just say: bad idea. "Ow...Ow...Ow..." I clutched my temple. "Forget how he does it; Why does he always have to hit so hard?!" I groaned, though it ended up as more of a yell. I noted Bruce waking up to Stark's left.
He apparently noticed this movement, too, as he quickly snapped into focus and stood up. The students and staff were beginning to retreat from their temporary shelters beneath tables and chairs or behind doors.
"We should probably get out of here and regroup before the internet gets too out of-" Stark halted as he apparently noticed Thor still knocked out on the floor...with his hammer dropped atop his chest. "Oh, you've gotta be bleeping me! He can lift the Hammer, too?!" He spun around dramatically.

While the Avengers walked out of the school, it occurred to me that our best sources for information were likely right behind us. I told the others to go on and walked back into the room and looked around until I found the young man from before.
I walked up to the boy 'Adam' had thrown his pudding to and got his attention. "Sorry to bother you all again, but I've got a few questions for you."
The kid's eyes widened but he nodded.
I glanced at his friends and waited until they got the memo and moved a couple of feet. Good enough. "Why did he give you his pudding?"
He stuttered for a second, but eventually managed to get an answer out. "I-I-I d-don't kn-know, he just always has. Right before the bell would ring, he would just...give me his pudding."
A young woman who had just moved away mumbled something - obviously in response to what her friend had said.
"What did you say?" I asked, turning fully to her.
Her eyes shot up, registering that I had heard her. "I...uhm..." she swallowed. "I said...I mean, it's just..." she sighed, exasperated at her tangle of words. "He doesn't...eat. At least, he's never eaten here, at school. And I doubt he eats outside school, either."
A girl across the room scoffed. The cliques here drew pretty hard lines. If not for the group with the guy Perseus/Adam threw his pudding to, I would have half expected Sharpay Evans to start singing and telling everyone to stick to the status quo at the top of a staircase. What?! It wasn't my fault Lila watched that brainless show nonstop!
Said girl was a part of the goth clique. Every kid at the table had black clothes, dark or colored hair and makeup, with piercings mix-n-matched all over their bodies. She answered my question without me having to ask. "The dude doesn't bleeping talk. How would you know?"
Her target looked at her aghast. "I'm sorry, have you not seen how thin he is-"
"Ladies, ladies." I stopped them before it could go further.
"They're right though." a girl at the cheerleaders' table ignored the glares of her 'friends'. Oh, please, Lila, be anything but a cheerleader. "He never spoke. Not unless it was a direct question. And I'm fairly certain he eats little to nothing." She ducked her head and whispered something that I only caught because I could read lips. "I should know."
A jock snorted, obviously not caring about the dropped mood. "It's not like he showed any emotion, either."
At that point the comments started coming in so fast, I could barely tell the direction they were coming from.
"He never sat with anyone..."
"...looked sooo tired, but I never once saw him asleep..."
"...never seen him get anything in late..."
"...only late to class once his entire time here-"
"Okay, I got it, thank you!" I finally yelled. "The guy was weird." I summed up and they all nodded or affirmed my answer in one way or another.

Hi Everyone! Thanks for being so patient with me. I'm currently in the midst of two different performances right now so I really need to focus my attention on that. I'll try to update as soon as I can, but I can't make any promises.
Love Ya!

Update: 1/17/24
Hi guys! First of all I'd like to thank all of you who have stuck with and voted for this story - it really means a lot to me.
Second of all, I am a performer. I may have mentioned this before, but I am currently in Chamber Orchestra, Advanced Choir, and Playing two lead roles in the musical my school is doing right now. On top of that, I am taking college classes (It is a miracle how high my grades are in those classes - meaning: passing), working on scholarships and applications for Universities, practicing private pieces for various events and auditions around the Valley (including scholarships), currently in a fashion show, and am working the two singularly free days I have to make money for higher education. All of this I must do whilst also making time for personal hygiene, chores, family, eating, and sleeping. If I were to add one more thing to my plate, I am being completely honest, I would likely end up having a meltdown.
Now let me make this clear, while the compilation of all the things I do is stressful, I am not complaining. I love doing what I do. A girl just has to unload every once in a while. That being said, I also decided to write it down just so you can understand why I am putting this account on hiatus. I love fanfiction. Unfortunately, whenever I am reading it (or writing it, for that matter), I tend to get so sucked in that the day is just gone from me before I know it. I'm hoping to continue working on this again, at the earliest, late March, at the latest, early June.
Thank you so much! Be safe, be kind, and Be yourself!
