„The devil doesn't come dressed in a red cape and pointy horns. He comes as everything you ever wished for."

The elation from the previous evening had come to an abrupt end the next morning at breakfast. Fred, George and Serena had managed to get to the Gryffindor common room in one piece and celebrate their triumph. But the look Hall gave her at breakfast across the hall frightened her.

His gaze icy cold and piercing as he didn't take his eyes off her, probably doing it on purpose to scare her, which definitely worked. But the thing that made Serena most uncomfortable was the devilish smile on his face. That was also the reason why she didn't take a bite, for fear it might be poisoned.

This paranoia lasted the whole day and if someone approached her from behind, she literally flinched. At lunch, Maxon laughed at her and stared at her like a startled unicorn.

"Excusez-moi, I didn't mean to startle you," he said with amusement, still grinning so that fine dimples were visible at the corners of his mouth. It was so infectious that Serena couldn't help but give a little of the corners of her mouth herself.

"I thought you were someone else," she mumbled sheepishly, staring at her merely half-filled plate in shame. "But I honestly prefer you."

The Frenchman's smile widened. He seemed to be beaming now just as the sun shone down on them from the enchanted ceiling. "I'm reassured then," he replied, clearing his throat. "But what I really wanted to ask you... Have you got it together with your infantem in the meantime?"

"Oh yes, we found out that we have to take care of it together," Serena replied, relieved to find that the heat in her head had almost subsided again.

"I see." Maxon looked a little disappointed and scratched the back of his head sheepishly as he smiled sheepishly. "Actually, I was going to use this as an excuse to meet up with you, but maybe you'd like to anyway."

"Yeah, sure," Serena replied, a little surprised, hoping her face hadn't turned bright red again as she did so. The Ravenclaw's smile intensified. "Good, then I'll meet you outside my common room at five?"

Before Serena could say anything in reply, he turned the corner and left her standing there, shaking her head. A slight smile now stole onto her face, this time she was almost certain it was a date. Excitedly, she looked out for Hailey to tell her about it. However, it seemed that the Hufflepuff was quite busy at the Gryffindor table.

It was an unfamiliar sight to see Hailey and Ron in such a manner. They were holding hands, kissing and just hanging on each other. When Serena asked her best friend after the last lesson in the library what was going on between them now, she just turned bright red, stammered something about, "Relationship or something..." and disappeared behind the shelves faster than Malfoy when he heard the word ferret.
