"Sometimes,
you need an Illusion to be happy."Still a little sleepy, Serena followed her mum across the driveway and up the stairs to her top floor flat. The walk through the house took longer than usual as Edmund stopped at every other object and asked what it could do, concluding, "Your house is cool."
She smiled slightly and managed to stop him from sticking his finger in one of the sockets just in time. Eventually, however, she ushered him into her room, which was clean and tidy thanks to her mum. He looked around with interest and Serena began to feel a little embarrassed by its simplicity. It wasn't anything special, it was just her room and in an absurd way, his presence felt like an invasion of her privacy. Especially when the Slytherin began to grin and marched purposefully towards her photo wall. "So you've hung it up."
"I hang up every picture," she quickly tried to defend herself and distract him from their joint picture from the Yule ball. But he had long since applied himself anyway and was now looking at her bulky mobile phone. "Is that the kind of thing you use to contact people?"
Serena nodded and threw herself onto her single bed, which she always found the most comfortable at home, completely exhausted. Only now did she realise that the boy who had accompanied her all the way had to sleep somewhere and this bed was definitely not suitable for two.
"When I said whatever helps you sleep, that's not what I meant," Edmund remarked a few minutes later, sitting on the floor where she had placed a duvet and pillow, completely offended.
"But we don't have a guest room," Serena replied, stubbornly crossing her arms in front of her chest. But of course her conscience had a say in the matter and promptly spoke up. After all, he had helped her. Jumping over her shadow, she sighed: "Fine. You get the bed."
At that moment, her mum spoke up too, leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed and looking down at the floor. "Serena, don't be so rude."
"I just said we could swap," she tried to defend herself, but her mum seemed to have a better idea, "Why don't you both take the bed?"
"Because it's too small."
"Oh, don't be so ridiculous, as long as you keep your clothes on, it'll be fine." Serena gave her a dirty look in return and hoped she had misheard, but Edmund's grinning face proved her wrong, "Yes, I agree."
"Are you still hungry?" her mum fortunately changed the subject at that moment and looked at the two of them questioningly. Only now did the Gryffindor realise that she hadn't eaten anything for dinner and a feeling of emptiness began to make itself heard at the thought of food. "I'll take that as a yes," she grinned and then disappeared into the corridor.
