"Who could be on the Island?" I asked Phoenix as she shrugged not knowing/being able to answer that question, before shifting back to her human self.
"I don't know, but I wouldn't trust them as fast as I could . . ." she stopped herself from finishing what she was going to say as she sighed. Although I had a feeling I knew what she was going to say.
Blue just snorted with a huff, which caused Phoenix to tilt her head as she looked at him in the corner of her eye.
"Do I want to know what he said?" I asked.
Although I have gotten better at understanding Blue and Phoenix whenever she is in Raptor form. Just there are some things that are hard to fully understand. O̶r̶ t̶h̶a̶t̶ I̶ m̶a̶y̶ o̶r̶ m̶a̶y̶ n̶o̶t̶ p̶u̶r̶p̶o̶s̶e̶l̶y̶ p̶r̶e̶t̶e̶n̶d̶ t̶o̶ n̶o̶t̶ u̶n̶d̶e̶r̶s̶t̶a̶n̶d̶.
"I'd rather not. But to shorten it, he plans to unalive whomever they are if he doesn't like them," she explains to me.
I couldn't help the laugh that made it's way out, as that really is a Blue thing to say. Although that probably wasn't his exact wording.
"Sounds about right," I chuckled.
As the sun started to rise more, we were drawing closer to where we had heard the gunshots and saw the flares in the sky. Although both her and Blue seemed to have caught multiple different scents heading in the same direction. Something told me that they recognized some of the scents, but the others seem to have them on edge.
So, Phoenix did one of the many things she does best.
Tracking.
Following all the tracks/traces of where these people were headed, I also started to take notice of the eight sets of footprints embedded into the soft grass.
We then started to hear voices talking as we grew near what seemed to be a campsite. As we drew closer I could make out some of the voices. Voices belonging to Darius, Sammy, Kenji, Yaz and Brooklynn. But there was a couple voices that I don't know. What I did know was Phoenix being tense and on high alert with Blue growling lowly.
"What is it?" I whispered to the hybrid.
"Blood and death hang in the air. So, don't trust them. Although, trust someone who seems the most gruff, like they're past experiences weigh on them," she told me with a deep seriousness.
"What? What do you mean?" I questioned quietly.
Phoenix turned to me, gently grasping my shoulders. A kind, gentle look on her face, which calmed me slightly.
"Your sister and the others are there. And I think it's time they find out you're alive," she tells me in a calm and gentle tone.
"What about you?"
"I'll be fine, I have Blue. Plus, whenever you need me, just use that whistle."
I placed a hand on the whistle chamber as I gave a nod, but I still gave her a hug as I don't really want to leave her or Blue. Although I did feel her place a gentle kiss a top of my head as she returned the hug.
"Promise me that this won't be the last time I see either one of you or Blue. Because I'm going to miss you guys a lot," I told her as I felt a wave of emotion hit me.
"I promise. There is no way in hell you can get rid of us," she tells me as Blue gave me a nudge with a soft chitter.
I gave Blue a pat before giving him a hug, as he rested his head over my shoulder.
"Take care of her," I told Blue as he chittered with a nod.
I then moved away as I looked at the two who mean a lot to me as they were there for me when I needed them and they taught me a lot. Phoenix gave me a small smile as she nodded. Which I returned as I know she will always be there for me whenever I need her and Blue.
