It's been 3 weeks, since she diseapeared, Jay is spiraling down, and the higher ups want us to drop the case, since we've been vigorously working on it for almost a month, and every lead is a dead end. We can't find anything
After a fay of searching
at about 9 pm
"Ok, guys I'm going to say what we've been dreading, we have to put the case on pause unless we get/find any new leads or evidence. All we know is she's been kidnapped, we can't find booth, the car on camera showed up burned so bad, no evidence was left, I've tried to hold this off as long as I could but, we all know at this point, chasing the same dead ends isn't doing anything, pack up and head home" Voight said before going to his office
Everyone sat there in shock and disbelief, I mean they knew it was coming but it still was very raw
They started piling out, and most of the others just headed home but not Jay
He went out, and would spent all night at a bar, getting so drunk he couldn't see straight and would blackout and then falling asleep in his car, still parked outside of that nights bar, until he woke up in the morning then he went to the district and started work. This was his new routing, he hadn't been back to the apartment since she had been taken, cause he couldn't bear it.
The next morning
They checked, and nothing new had popped up on haileys case.
But, Voight informed them that they had picked up a case, they worked it and solved it putting the crew away for a long time
Case after case, day after day of missing Hailey and feeling hopeless started to eat at Jay,
2 weeks later
"Ok, guys we might have something on Hailey, Some teenager dropped a box on the steps, and trudy found this inside" Voight said holding up Haileys wedding ring. Looking at Jay you could tell he was trying not to cry
"Sarge, our cameras got rhe kids face, he's at school right now me and Kim are gonna go get him see what he know" Adam said
"Go" said Voight
"The rest of you tey and find the kid when he gets the package, and figure out who gave it to him" Voight ordered
A bit later
It's now been 4 months, and her case status went from paused to a cold case meaning it would likely never be solved

Early one morning
"Halstead my office"
He came in and shut the door before sitting down
"I just got your orders from the Rangers, why didn't you say something when you re enlisted?"
"I don't know I wasn't really thinking, they just called me this morning, I leave tomorrow"
"Yeah I know, Since we're not doing anything go say your goodbyes and do whatever you need to, to be ready"
"Yes sir" he replied in a voice of utter defeat
"Jay, Be Safe" Voight said before Jay left his office
I told the other what was going on, and left to pack. We agreed to meet at mollys tonight.
I canceled the TV subscriptions and newspapers, and after checking everything. It was 7 0 clock and I headed to mollys.
"Hey hey you made it!" Adam called put
They all talked and laughed but it still felt weird and like someone was missing without Hailey, when did everything go so wrong I asked myself for the millionth time.
