Rick gives me one last look before closing the door. Maybe it was empathy, or maybe it was just concern. But either way he didn't give me any reassurance. I sit on the floor and feel my body shake in anticipation and major anxiety.
"RICK!" I shout before he presses the button. I hear him shout 'what?!' from outside. "Promise that if something goes wrong-...that you'll burry me somewhere nice. And that you'll visit me."
At first it's silent, then he opens the door and bends down to be eye level with me. "You're going to be fine. But 'I find your lack of faith disturbing'" he smirks at the reference he seems to be making. But I don't quite follow. He sighs in disappointment before continuing on, "if there's a possibility something bad like that happens, I promise to make it right."
I grab his collar, still shaking in fear, and stare him dead in the eyes. "You have to visit me. And burry me somewhere nice."
Rick is clearly taken aback by my sudden assertiveness, and for a moment I swear I saw a flash in his eyes that indicated he likes it. "Obviously I'm gonna visit you dummy. Let's get this over with, alright? I've got other things to do, and you're going to need some rest for awhile after this is all over with."
I whimper and let go of his collar before looking away nervously. I hear him stand up just as he pats my head in a reassuring way. "You'll be fine." He comments before closing the door behind him once more.
Clenching my eyes shut, I brace for the worst. My body trembling even harder now that I know there's no going back.
Rick begins a count off outside, "3...2..." he pauses for what feels like forever but follows through more than a few seconds after.
"1"
A sudden bright light flashes before a sudden multitude of -what feels like- electricity bolts grab hold of my body. Throwing me to the floor in a violent way and shaking my body like someone in a seizure. Or a possessed girl like 'The Exorcist'.
I scream as my veins feel like they are filling with a rush of hot liquid. My blood feels like it may literally be boiling. Im in so much pain that it's hard to tell if my thoughts are even logical. My only release was to scream till the pain reached my brain. Where it felt like everything was going mushy. A sudden stream of heat runs down my face. I was starting to bleed from my nose as my eyes rolled back and I compulsed on the floor. It felt like it went on forever.
Eventually, after an eternity, I could feel that the electric bolts were finishing building their barrier. In actuality, a minute may have passed. It was only the start. The machine hasn't even begun to destroy all the extra power or store some of it. Phase 1 of 3 was complete. And the second phase was going to be the longest. I could feel it.
The machine wires up again and grabbed a hold of me with sharp electric hands. So much so that I was engulfed in a bright ray of light.
It felt like I was being drained of my life essence rapidly and violently. If I could scream in the state I'm in, I would. But it was so intense that it felt like my throat was swollen shut. I could barley get a breath in or out every couple seconds. I gasped, and gasped, but received nothing in return. It didn't help that I was paralyzed within this aura of electric and my eyes had rolled back again. Not allowing me to see anything. What the hell was Rick talking about?! Not that painful my ass! This was the most excruciating pain I've ever felt in my entire life. It was like someone pierced me to a wooden stake, and decided to force me to swallow lava, all while being set on fire.
Eventually after a certain point, my brain caved in on itself (metaphorically) and I no longer felt like I was in reality. It was like my brain mustered up the last of its' consciousness and created a haven for me to disassociate. Which helped pass the time, either way, though, it went on for at least 2-3 minutes. I'll never trust Rick again after how long this is taking.
