I run inside my house, swinging the door open, flying through as I grab my gadgets and prototypes I've been working on. Everything that I've ever needed help with, goes into a backpack slung over my shoulder. Eventually, I realize that I'm packing up half of my house.
"Alright, calm down y/n. The man you've respected your whole life just said he'd teach you. But that's no reason to overload him with all your experiments. Just pick an important few and take it. And of course the notes. Leave everything else here." Taking a moment, I stop and pull some stuff out of the backpack. "I can always come back later," I tell myself as I close the front door behind me and make my way back to Rick's house. The only thing that sucks about time being frozen is not being able to get a taxi or Uber to drive you. I have to run all the way back from my house to theirs.
By the time I make it back to the house, Summer and Morty are awake and about. Summer is outside pantsing people, and Morty right alongside her. Rick is watching them, seemingly out of breath. As if they've been doing it for a while. Summer and Morty were too busy to notice me come back, but Rick waves back to me as I say hi.
"I brought some stuff... maybe if you wouldn't mind, you could take a look at it?" I ask nervously as I stand in front of Rick. He's leant against the door frame looking down at me and my backpack.
"You want to do that right now? Are you hungry or something? The kids and I are going to get something to eat soon."
I don't really need to eat as much as humans do, but if he's willing to have me around, I'm more than grateful to stay. "S-sure I don't mind if you guys don't mind. What were you planning on making? Considering all the fast foods are frozen." I slip my backpack next to the couch and follow Rick into the kitchen, where we look for food to make.
"Mm not sure. I can make some pasta or something..." seems like Rick has something else in mind. So I press and ask what other idea he's got brewing.
"We could go downtown and take the food that's been freshly made. You know? Like a pizza or something. Something the customer hasn't eaten yet. Once we touch it, time will return to it and we can eat it fresh and hot." Seems like that was his idea from the start.
"Whatever you guys are going to do, I'll do too. Although I don't need to eat every day like you guys do. So maybe I'll just-"
"Just eat the pizza. I don't want you sitting around in the garage confused about what tools do what, while I'm gone. Besides, eating a slice won't kill you." He raises an eyebrow judgingly.
I cross my arms and look away from him. "Fine, I guess I will."
"Alright good, now let's go grab morty and summer and get the heck out of here. I drank too much on an empty stomach." He makes his way out and calls the kids over. I smile and wave at them as they wave back.
"Y/n, you're back!" Morty and summer say happily.
"Of course. We are all stuck, frozen in time together. I'm not just going to go home and wait for the next party you guys throw." I tease them.
Morty chuckles and rubs the back of his head, "y-yeah I guess you're right."
"Grandpa Rick, I'm literally starving. What's the plan?"
"Well sum sum, I'm thinking we go downtown and grab a pizza they had freshly made. If we just take the food, the time'll unfreeze and be hot and edible again."
"Pizza sounds good," morty chimes in.
"Good, because it wasn't a pitch idea. It's what's happening. Is everyone ready? Or does someone need a potty break before we walk?" Guess he can be a bit snippy when he's hungover.
