McFarming Industries, one of the top six most charitable companies in the country, started several years ago by Carlton McFarland when he was only 25, known for its revolutionary advancements in healthy foods, products, and medicines. Mostly, they're known for creating special foods for pets that are unable to eat regular pet products. They've also been known for creating healthier foods for picky eaters, especially kids, where they can get the nutrients they need while also enjoying the yummy treats they normally prefer.
It's small and simple stuff, but revolutionary all the same, and have made them one of the most groundbreaking industries in the entire world.
Currently, Julie and Walter Emerson are walking side by side, discussing the usual business plans while heading to Walter's office. They pass by their assistant's desk and she catches their attention.
"Uh, Mrs. McFarland? Your son, Benjamin, is here, waiting in Mr. Emerson's office."
The two partners grew shocked by this information, glancing at each other before hurrying to the office. As soon as they enter, they see Benjamin sitting in the chair in front of Walter's desk. He's well-suited and looks over his shoulder upon hearing the door open.
"Benjamin, honey, what are you doing here?" Julie asked, clearly concerned.
Her son reaches his feet and meets with the both of them.
"It's OK, I know everything," he informed and his mother grows regretful.
"I was going to tell you when the time was right."
"It's OK, I understand, and don't blame you at all," Ben assured. "I would actually like to talk with Walt here if you two aren't that busy?"
Julie and Emerson both grow shocked. She looks to the CEO questionably, not sure how to feel, but Emerson looks back at her with a calming assurance.
"It's OK, I can handle this," he promises with a hand on her shoulder.
She glances back at her son, who smiles the same way, before she nods to both of them and exits the office. Emerson closes the door behind her before walking to his desk with Benjamin.
"Have a seat, young man, and tell me what's on your mind."
Benjamin returns to his seat while Walter leans on his desk.
"I'd like to try and help out." Walter grows curious and allows him to continue. "I'm sure my mom has told you about the court date she arranged for me to 'officially' get brought back from the dead. Once that happens, I would still like a job here, get to know the company better, and... maybe even help keep you from selling this place."
Walter seemed to admire what Benjamin wanted to do for them, but looked reluctant about this at the same time. He took in a breath and slowly let it out before responding.
"Listen, kid, I admire the hell out of you stepping up like this, but this is new territory for you. Aside from what you've experienced on that island, you've never truly had to fight for something on this level; and no, no archery contest could've prepared you for something like this either. It's a whole new different level of responsibility that you've never been tasked with before; and it'll take more than you having a spot here to save this company from sinking."
Benjamin lowered his eyes as he nodded, taking his words in.
"That's fair, but I need to try and do something for this place, now more than ever. This is my family's legacy, my FATHER'S legacy no-less."
Walter frowned and sighed through his nose, knowing where he was coming from.
"Your father's legacy to you is much more than this company, far more at that."
