The clock ticked and ticked. Seconds going by... Then minutes... And before I knew it an hour'a gone by. "Where the hell is this guy?" I thought to myself. "He was supposed to be here at 12! It's 1:30!!" I mumbled this to myself. Anger swept over me until I was at least a very dull pink. Maybe a tomato red... I don't know, I don't own a mirror. Well I do but it's a ho- I'm going off topic. I began to pace the hallway until people began to get annoyed.
"Can you please stop, Cas??" I short man turned around with a lollipop in his mouth and a few pieces of paper held in his hand.
"My bad, Gabriel. It's just that Chuck said my new assistant should be here at 12." He looked down at the ground, fumbling his lollipop between his tongue.
"Huh." is all he managed to speak out. Then he looked at me and smiled. "Could it be the clueless looking guy trying to hit on Charlie down in the lobby?" I looked upset. Great he's clueless and stupid.
"Thanks Gabe." I nodded and turned on my heels towards the elevator. I waited impatiently. A whole hour and a half wasted on this moron. I sighed. At least I get a new assisstant. The big shiny metal doors opened with a ding. I notice a man smiling at Charlie. Charlie looks very uncomfortable. I walk over an I notice his eyes glance at me. They lock on me and he stops smiling. His mouth is open and I see Charlie glance over the side of the wall. She looked relieved.
"Hi Castiel." She looked very happy. "I believe this is your new assisstant? His name is-"
"Dean Winchester. How are you." He stood up straight and held his hand out. "And I believe you're Castiel?-"
"Novak." I shook his hand.
"Ahh, Castiel Nov-Ak. Nice ring to it."
"If you'd excuse us, Charlie, Mr. Winchester and I have a lot to discuss."
"I'll get the door for you!" She pressed a button opening the elevator. "I'll talk to you later Cas."
"Later." Dean winked at Charlie. All Charlie did was smiled and looked away. I walked beside Dean as we stepped inside the elevator. I pressed floor 5 and the doors closed. "I think I'm gonna score with the red head." He winked at me.
"Her name is Charlie." I fumbled with my sleeves. "And I'll have you know... You were kinda hitting on a lesbian." I glanced over at him. He was no longer smiling, rather red in fact. It was sorta cute. Then a ding. We both stepped out if the elevator and I lead him to my "office."
"Wow..." Dean glanced around my cubicle. "This is uhhh... fancy?"
"I work for a bunch of cheap bastards." I rolled my eyes. "Excuse my language."
"No no. It's cool. So uhm... where's my cubicle thing?" He continued to look around my tiny space.
"Luckily, John was fired last week so you get the one next to me. Dean glanced over to my right and looked at it confused.
"It's pink... With butterflies and is that a naked fairy??" He paused and looked again. "With nipples???"
"Other one." Was this guy serious?
"Mmm." he glanced over to the empty cubicle. "Ahh I get it... Now. Uhm. I was just testing you."
"Sure you were." I smiled at him. Then he smiled back. I blushed a little. He was kinda cute smiling like that. And he had perfect teeth. I saw potential in him. Only a few rough patches here and there but other than that he's good.
I spun around my chair, bored, as I heard rumbles from Dean setting up his area. Then it stopped. I got up and glanced over the wall. Dean was just staring at a picture with a guy on it. He had long brown hair and pretty brown eyes. All I could see was him and Dean, smiling with hunting rifles. "Who's that?" Dean jumped a little and glanced at me, then the picture.
"My brother.... Sam." His voice lowered. He sounded upset. "To save you a long story, he was killed, seven years ago... in a hunting accident."
"Oh..." I stared at the picture. "I'm sorry." was all I could say. Then I saw Dean trembling. A tear steamed down his face.
"Sorry doesn't bring my brother back." He wiped the tear away an pinned the picture about his laptop then continued digging in his box of random crap. I don't recall him getting it. Maybe someone brought it up for him.
"Could you perhaps tell me the full story some other time?" He looked up at me and our eyes locked.
"It's really not interesting. You wouldn't care." He shook his head and looked away.
"I care." then he looked up again. And without saying a word he continued to decorate and neaten up his cubicle. I sat back slowly and started to neaten my cubicle a bit. I started browsing through my drawer when I saw something glow. I look down at my chest and it began to glow a bright green.
"Hey Cas..." Dean started me over the little cubical wall and the green faded fast. "I'm hungry, wanna grab a bite to eat? My treat!" I stared at him comprehending what he just said.
"Oh uhm... Yeah. Sure, sure." It was my lunch break anyways. I slowly got up without speaking a word. I was confused. Why was I glowing? I didn't meet "the one" yet. She's not here... Is she? I look around glancing at everyone in the room. There was Mary, but she already has a glow mate. Plus if she was my glow mate wouldn't we have lighten up a long time ago?
"Dude," Dean waved in my face. "You ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I grab my keys and phone and shoved them in my pocket.
"Hurry up I have this wicked place I want you to try." He nudged my arm a bit. "Best place EVER!" I pushed in my chair and headed on out for lunch with my new assisstant, Dean Winchester.
