Chapter 8

Kaitlyn walked into the hospital Monday morning. She sat down and turned the computer on, getting it set up for the day.

Just then, Jocelyn came over to her.

"So, how was it?" She asked.

"How was what?" Kaitlyn asked.

"Your date with Dr. Cullen." Jocelyn said.

"It was fine." Kaitlyn replied.

"That's it?" Jocelyn asked.

"It was nice." Kaitlyn answered. "We went to a nice restaurant in Port Angeles. We talked, getting to know each other, and that's it. What's the big deal?"

"The big deal is that ever since Dr. Cullen has started working here, almost all of the female employees have continually flirted with him and he has never pursued any of them." Jocelyn explained. "You're the first person he has ever asked out before."

"Have you ever flirted with him?" Kaitlyn asked.

"No. I have a fiancée." Jocelyn said. "The fact that I don't flirt with him is probably why he likes working with me so much."

Kaitlyn nodded. They noticed Carlisle approach them and stopped talking about him.

"Good morning girls." Carlisle greeted them.

"Good morning, Dr. Cullen." The two girls greeted.

"Jocelyn, I have a surgery this morning." Carlisle started. "If you have time, would you be willing to check on my other patients please?"

"Sure, Dr. Cullen." Jocelyn said.

Carlisle turned to Kaitlyn. "Would you care to join me for lunch today?" He asked.

"I thought you had a surgery." Kaitlyn said.

"I should still have time for lunch today." Carlisle said.

"Sure." Kaitlyn said.

"Great." Carlisle said, smiling. "I'll meet up with you later."

Kaitlyn nodded as he left. Jocelyn gave her a look before she walked away.

Later that day, Kaitlyn was working at the computer.

Carlisle walked over to her. "See, I told you I'd still have time for lunch." He said. "Ready?"

Kaitlyn nodded and followed him to the cafeteria.

As they were eating, Kaitlyn was aware of people staring at them.

"I'm sorry for all the stares on us." Carlisle said.

"Yes, I heard you were quite popular around here." Kaitlyn said.

Carlisle chuckled. "I had a wonderful time with you the other night." He said.

"So did I." Kaitlyn said.

"I would really like to take you out again, if you'd like." Carlisle said. "Maybe this weekend?"

"I can't this weekend." Kaitlyn said.

"Oh, that's alright." Carlisle said. "Another time, then."

Kaitlyn thought for a moment. Should she invite him to what she was doing this weekend. They had only just started dating, but he had been really nice to her and she really liked him.

"Actually. The church is having a special service for my father Saturday morning. " Kaitlyn started. "I'd really like it if you came."

"I'd love to come." Carlisle said. Kaitlyn smiled.
