3rd P.O.V
It was a waking nightmare. The entire world was enveloped in a crimson sky and stone abominations that took the form of babies descended onto the Earth, devouring all that could be devoured. People screamed in terror as they attempted to flee the nightmarish entities that swooped upon them, but to no avail. They were killed and eaten, nothing more than pools of blood and dismembered body parts remained of them.
If people weren't running, they were fighting with no hope. Nobody truly knew what these "babies" were. Were they gods? Were they demons? Were they some form of Empire weaponry? Or was this just a nightmare everyone shared? Nobody could ever confirm what these creatures were, only making them far more unsettling.
As they swooped down, they released giggles with blank eyes and bloodied grins, as if they revelled in the hell they brought to the world.
Despite the hopelessness of the situation, there were still a few who sought to restore the world, if it could be. A man with black and white short hair rode atop a black dragon with a skull head. The man held a strong and bloodied blade in his left hand, his clothes also drenched in the blood of many enemies. Humans, creatures, even the flying abominations that were surrounding the world at this very moment. And yet, he smiled like a maniac. The entire world trembled in fear at the first glance of the nightmares, yet this man simply grinned. His cheeks opening further and further into a painfully large grin. Even his eyes glowed crimson with bloodlust. All the blood he had shed from his fallen foes, it wasn't enough to satisfy his thirst. It never was.
But even he had to admit he had his limits. Even he was human in the end.
Riding the dragon, the man and the young boy behind him flew towards the centre of the ruined city. The ground had become enveloped in a bright white light which had been sucking the land, wiping it all out. In the centre of the city, there was a giant humanoid statue laying on the ground, its belly bloated, even larger than the body itself. And in the sky, right above it, a giant white circle broke through, as if the gods had sent all of these creatures from the heavens above.
Boy: We need to get to that monster!
The boy shouted as the dragon dodged many of the oncoming babies, firing heavy blasts of flames at them in retaliation. The trio had been attempting to reach the centre, but it was easier said than done as the nightmares had thwarted nearly every effort. It got much worse when they fired nonsensical beams of energy at the dragon which followed its every move.
Dragon: This is futile! We can't break through!
The dragon screeched in a female scratchy voice, exhausted from the fighting yet still determined to see this through to the end. Either the nightmares, or its own. The man soothed the dragon, rubbing her head calmly despite the hell around them. Knowing that she wasn't alone, gave the dragon the strength and motivation she needed to keep pushing forward. With renewed vigour, she created a barrage of blue lasers which all spread out and blasted through the abominations, killing them.
With a hole in their defences breached, the dragon dove through it and flapped her wings as hard as she could, trying to reach the giant beast before anymore interruptions could intervene. However, more than a few times, lasers from the attacking fiends had struck at the dragon, injuring her greatly. The man's eyes widened in a fit of sorrow, pain and rage. His journey with his partner had been a long and great one. As taboo as it seemed, he had grown to harbour special feelings for the dragon, and she him.
The end was in sight now! Unable to fly any longer, the dragon dove towards the belly of the statue, crash landing atop it. The boy and man held on tightly to the dragon's back as she did her best to manage her landing. Once they stopped moving, the man dismounted his partner's back, checking on her wounds. Blood flowed out of various wounds in her wings and her lower torso. As pact partners, the man could feel all of her wounds too and the dragon's anguish.
Dragon: Mutasim... Pay no mind to me. You must-
Unsettling giggles from above disturbed them, prompting the man, Mutasim, to turn around. Looking above him, he saw the fiends descending, eager to devour easy meals. The young boy cowered behind the adult, terrified.
Boy: M-Mutasim! I don't wanna die! We can't die! Leonard and Arioch...! They would've died for nothing if we die here!
Annoyed, the man kicked the boy away and held his blade skyward, ready to strike at the oncoming horde. And he would've happily done so...
Except, a burst of light enveloped Mutasim, the boy and the dragon. Whatever it was, blinded them and created a giant explosion, destroying a giant portion of the land, perhaps even the entire city.
Whatever it was, it didn't matter. The world had already Descended into Hell.
