Mutasim P.O.V
After cleaning up all the blood on me, Stoick provided me with some new clothes while my old set of armour was given to someone else to clean. Once I had changed, my dragon, Seere and I followed Stoick into the Great Hall. Seere and I sat down together while the dragon simply sat behind me, a little closely, I should add. She practically hugged me with her wings which I had to admit felt quite nice.
Stoick: I'm sure you've got a lot of questions. And I'll be more than happy to answer them. But before we start, would you like something to eat? Or drink?
Seere: I'm good. What about you Mutasim?
I shook my head as did my partner.
Stoick: Very well. So... Where do you want to start?
Dragon: Let us start with what's changed over the years.
Stoick: What in Odin's name?! D-Did that dragon just...?
Seere: Yeah. Since Mutasim can't speak, his partner does it for him.
Stoick: "Partner"?
Dragon: So you weren't lying when you said your people didn't know what pacts were.
I nodded, finally being able to show her that was the case. Before we made our pact, she was surprised at the idea that I didn't know what a pact was. For a while now, she's been questioning in her head whether I was messing around. Now she's finally got her confirmation.
Seere: A pact is when a human and a special beast can fuse their souls into one. But the human has to give something up as a price for the pact. For Mutasim, he had to give away his voice.
Stoick: I... I see. So what does a "pact" bring?
Dragon: Our lives are one, our strength is near immeasurable. Entire armies have fallen to my flames and Mutasim's blade. Since our lives are one, we also feel the same things. Pain, exhaustion and even death.
Stoick: You mean if you were to die, Mutasim would also perish even if he wasn't hurt?
I nodded. That was basically what we meant when the dragon said "our lives are one". The chief nodded solemnly.
Stoick: Right. Well, I should tell you about what's happened while you were gone. As... strange as it may sound now, we've actually... befriended the dragons.
I frowned, confused. Before I could even think my question to the dragon, she spoke up.
Dragon: So you've tamed dragons, yes?
Stoick: Yes. It wasn't easy at first for any of us to accept it, but Hiccup showed us that the dragons were forced to steal our food and attack us. They served a colossal dragon which either ate the food it was given or ate the dragons who failed to supply the food.
Seere: Cannibalism?
Dragon: The weak die and the strong thrive. Such is the rules of nature.
Stoick: Thanks to Hiccup and his Night Fury, the Red Death was destroyed and the dragons were now much more peaceful. More than a few of us on Berk ride dragons now. Even me.
I scoffed from hearing that, leaning back into my seat while my partner spoke my thoughts.
Dragon: You? Stoick the Vast who had slaughtered how many dragons again?
Stoick: I won't rid my hands of the blood I've shed, but things change. And this is a change for the better, for both species.
Seere: I think that's cool! Humans and dragons living together in harmony! It makes for a great story!
