XIII. For Being Alive

"WILL?!"

Katherine's voice was shaky, tears falling from her eyes, she touched his face making sure he was still alive. 

And he was. 

She smiled widely, Gibbs looked at her remembering her and Will's bond, but all she cared about was the fact that he was here.

She pulled him onto her lap as she hugged his unconscious body, she didn't care that he had no idea who was hugging him, she just cared that she had her best friend back. Her brother back. He looked older... His hair was longer, his face changed, he looked like a man now and no longer the blacksmith apprentice boy who she used to train with every week...

She said she'd visit but with the Royal Navy hunting them for months upon months and the damned hurricane... God, she never made it back to Port Royal to see him or Elizabeth. Did they even get married? She had no idea.

That's when he shifted in her lap before jumping a bit only to see her face... "Kat?"

"Will..." Kat smiles widely tears falling again.

Will was so shocked as he sat up, he stared at her for a moment before pulling her into a tight hug, and she hugged back just as tightly.

"I can't believe you're here," Kat whispers

Will nods, "me too... I am so happy to see you!" They both laughed as they looked at each other again, he studied her face just as she did when she first saw him, "you've grown."

"That's what happens," Kat smiles.

"I hate to break the moment but I'm here for a reason, Katherine," he confesses, "I needed to speak with you and Jack."

Her eyes widened, "why? Is... Is it Elizabeth? My father?" She didn't hate her father, not really, she just hated the fact he pretty much disowned her for becoming a Pirate and was ready to let them hang her, "are they-"

"They are okay- well, Elizabeth not so much," he shook his head.

"What about Elizabeth?! What happened to my sister-"

Will sighs, "Kat, they arrested us for saving Jack, they had a warrant for both you and Norrington as well."

"What about Jack? What does he have to do with this?" Kat asked confused.

Will pursed his lips hesitating to tell her the truth.

"Will, what does Jack have to do with this?" Kat insisted.

"About Jack," Will changed the subject for now, "why would he do this to us? If Jack is the Chief..."

Katherine shook her head as Gibbs spoke up, "aye, the Pelegostos made Jack their chief, but he only remains chief as long as he acts like a chief."

"So he had no choice," Will realized, "he's a captive here as much as the rest of us..."

"Worse as it turns out," Gibbs confesses.

Will looked at Katherine for answers as she sighs, "Will, they believe Jack is a god in human form- don't even ask me how he achieved this, I don't have a clue- and they intend to do him the 'honor' of releasing him... Aka," she couldn't even say it. They came here to make sure Jack didn't die at sea by the Kraken and now he may die by cannibals. 

Suddenly Cotton showed him what she meant as he grabbed Gibbs's finger and bit on it!

Gibbs thrashed his hand out of the man's mouth and said, "they'll roast him and eat him."

"Where's the rest of the crew?" Will asked.

Katherine looked at him, "where do you think the cages came from?"
