"Hey Adie, I'm sorry to interrupt. The principal is calling a meeting with the teacher before classes start." My coworker Cassie said as she stood in the doorway.
"Okay I'll be there in a second" I said quietly. She nodded before stepping away.
"I hope you find everything you need today to decide to keep this a school, if you'll excuse me I must go" I said smiling.
"I'll see you soon" Bellamy said smiling at me. I nodded before I stepped out. When I got to the conference room everyone was sitting there confused.
"Hey guys, I'm sorry to say. The school was sold this morning. The buyer is turning it into a restaurant, so we'll be closing soon" the principal, Mr. Withers said.
"No, not quite." I said quietly.
"Why do you say that?" He asked.
"Well I actually know the buyer. I just was talking to him. He is going to close another deal and then he'll be back, I convinced him to stick around for the day and see how much our students love us and how good of a school we are in the hopes he'll help rebuild the school and keep it open" I said.
"Do you know him through Cat?" He asked.
"no I know him from somewhere else. He agreed to meet with me today with Cat, yes but I knew him beforehand." I said. I knew he was asking if Cat had broken contract but technically she didn't although it could be portrayed that way.
"Okay well then I suggest everybody work hard and impress Mr. Rivera today." He said.
"Mr. Rivera? As in the Rivera family that owns that accounting firm and real estate company?" Cassie asked.

"Yes. They're super intimidating but don't let that affect your work." Mr. Withers said. We all nodded and went back to class. When the meeting was over it was time to start class. The day went on smoothly, I didn't see Bellamy. During lunch I decided I'd run to get Mexican food because I forgot to pack a lunch. When I walked outside I saw Bertram so I walked over to say hi.
"Hello Bertram" I said as I approached.
"Hello again ma'am. Now I see why Mr. Rivera has chosen to hang around today." He said.
"Please call me Adie and it's for the school not me of course." I said.
"Respectfully ma'am.. I mean Adie please if you can't see it you're just as blind as he is. I've never seen him swoon over a woman before. He's not particularly the type of man who is alone at night but never with a woman more than once. He's dated a few times but never anything serious. He's never been the type to talk to women as long as he spent talking to you that night either. Since he met you he has not been with anybody else, he has us drive past your house to make sure you're okay, and he's talks about you often." Bertram said. I was baffled. I had no idea how to respond.
"I reckon I must be blind. I don't see how I could have that affect on such a well put together business man. To be honest he makes me quite nervous but I truthfully love my job, my school and most of all my students. Since he bought the school I need his help but only if it's something he believes in himself. I don't want him to do it for me or the teachers or any feelings he has involving me, I want him to do it because he truly believed it's a good idea and for the students." I said. Bertram smiled at me.

"You're students and this school is lucky to have someone who cares about them so much. I'm sure you're an amazing teacher. Please don't let me hold you up though if you have somewhere to be." He said still smiling.
"I was actually headed to get some Mexican food for pick up, would you like something to eat?" I asked.
"I would love something, surprise me" he said.
"I can do that" I said and suddenly I heard someone clear their throat behind me so I turned to see Bellamy.
"Mr. Rivera, I hope you're liking the school." I said.
"Adie please do not call me Mr. Rivera. I didn't tell you my last name for that exact reason. Where are you headed if I may ask?" He asked.
"To get Bertram and myself Mexican food, would you like some?" I asked quietly.
"Indeed that does sound good, would you like to ride with Bertram and I to get it?" He asked.
"That sounds fine to me as long as you both don't mind." I said looking to Bertram.
"It would be an honor Adie" Bertram said smiling.
"When did you become first name basis friends?" Bellamy asked.
"Just a few minutes ago, it was quite insulting that he was calling me ma'am." I said with a small laugh. He opened the car door without responding, helping me in the car. I still had an hour left of lunch as the students had gym, I hated having a long lunch but it was okay I guess.

We headed to the Mexican restaurant, I went in with Bellamy and we ordered our food.
"What do you have going on this evening?" Bellamy asked with his hands in his pockets and his head down.
"Ummm I'm going to go home and shower and grade papers, why what's up?" I asked curiously.
"Well I was wondering if you wanted some company? I can bring dinner or make dinner?" He asked. He seemed shy like he didn't know if he was overstepping.
"I mean sure, if grading papers is what you like to do in your free time" I said with a small laugh.
"We can talk about what kind of plans you have for the school if I decide to keep it a school" he said this time looking at me.
"I have so many plans, but I don't want to be the reason you decide to keep it a school. I want you to want to keep it a school for the kids, their academic needs, and because you genuinely believe it's the best option." I said looking at him. Before either of us said anything else they brought our food out and we returned to the car and headed back to the school. When we arrived at the school I stepped out of the car and walked to the driver window.
"Thank you for the ride, if you would like to eat somewhere other than the car I'm going to be eating in my classroom and you're more than welcome to join" I said to Bertram. He nodded and smiled.
"What about me?" Bellamy asked. A glimpse of hurt appeared in his eyes before it faded.
"Well I figured since you hadn't witnessed my class you'd already be joining me." I said quietly. He nodded as I turned to walk inside.
"Thank you for the offer Adie but I'm okay here" Bertram said as I was walking away, I nodded without looking back.
