Friday
Jimin is walking to the bar to meet with Jin. Finally he can meet his friend and catch up. When he sees that Jin hasn't arrived yet, he picks out a nice little table and yawns while sitting down. He hasn't slept much the last two nights since coming back. He's been calling with Yoongi until late and then he just tosses and turns for a while in bed before falling asleep. It was much easier to fall asleep with his sweet barista next to him. Just as he's about to check his phone, Jin walks into the bar with a big smile on his face.
"Jimin-aaa!"
"Jin hyung! How are you?" Jimin stands up to hug his friend.
"Oh I'm fine Jimin-a, I'm fine. Work has been a bit crazy as per usual." Jin sighs as he sits down. They order some bar snacks and a couple of beers.
"Are things going well at the restaurant?" Jimin asks.
"Yeah, really well. I'm making a new menu, the new star ingredient is going to be tuna."
"Oh nice, please invite me to taste test again." Jimin nudges Jin's arm.
"Ha, of course! But okay, Jimin-a, you've made me wait patiently for your story about Jeju. Spill it. Why did you stay longer?" Jin rests his chin on his hands and stares at Jimin, eagerly waiting to hear what he has to say.
"Oh man... Jin hyung... I don't know where to start! After I landed they didn't have a rental car for me, so I was already quite pissed. Then when I arrived at the Airbnb the host was super rude to me, but later he told me that was just because his friend was in the hospital and he was very sincere and apologetic... His name is Yoongi. Min Yoongi. He's actually really sweet... He came to pick me up when I was stuck at night in the middle of nowhere in the rain, and he made me ramyeon... He -"
"Wait wait, so your host was nice, but why did you stay in Jeju until Tuesday?" Jin asks impatiently. Meanwhile the food and drinks are brought to the table. The boys cheers their glasses and eagerly take a sip.
"So," Jimin continues, "that was because Hoseok, who hired me, was gonna go on a camping trip and he wanted me to tag along to take some more pictures, so I changed my flight to Sunday." Jimin takes another big sip of his beer. He is starting to feel a bit nervous about telling him the details about Yoongi.
"Well that's nice, but that still doesn't explain why you left on Tuesday."
"Yeah, so, on Sunday while I was already at the airport a big storm rolled up, so almost all flights got cancelled. Then I couldn't get another flight until Tuesday."
"Oh man, such bad luck! I've never had a cancelled flight before... So what did you do while you were still there? Did you go around Jeju a bit more?"
"Well... not exactly... I ehh... I spent basically all my time with... with Yoongi." Jimin takes another big gulp of his beer while peeking at Jin to see his reaction. He's not really scared of how Jin might react, but this is the first time telling a friend about Yoongi, and it feels very exciting but also weird.
"Oh okay, that's cool that you made a friend." Jin shoves a large piece of pancake in his mouth.
"Ehh... well..." Jimin plays a bit with his chopsticks, poking the kimchi.
"Jimin-a, what's going on? You're acting all weird..."
"Hyung..."
"Jimin-a?"
"I ehh... Yoongi and I... we're... we're kind of a thing." Jimin's hands are getting a bit sweaty.
"A thing? You... you mean...?"
"Yeah. Dating." Jimin purses his lips and lays his chopsticks down. Jin swallows his food and looks at Jimin, seemingly to check if he's joking or not.
"You're serious?"
"Yes."
"Mmm..." Jin pauses for a moment. "Jimin-a... Were you worried about telling me you're with a man?"
"Kind of... I don't know... not really, but you're the first person I'm telling, so I didn't really know what to expect I guess."
"Really? I'm the first? Ohh, that's so flattering. Thank you for telling me Jimin-a." Jin reaches over to squeeze Jimin's arm. "I'm really proud of you, and honoured that you trust me with this information. But you know most important thing for me is that you're with a good person, gender does not matter."
"Thanks hyung... I think it's also that I'm still getting used to the idea myself, and things are going so fast. I... I really really like him hyung. Like, a lot, I think..."
"You think?" Jin squints his eyes and smiles.
"Ha, yeah, no... I'm quite sure. I've never been this sure actually."
"Whoa, that's something I've never heard you say."
"Right?? I'm not usually like this. I feel all warm and excited and I can't stop thinking about him. Warm isn't even the right word. I feel hot. Burning hot."
"Ooohh Jimin-aaaa, that sounds like you two have been getting a bit spicy in the bedroom already..." Jin playfully wiggles his shoulders and points his chopsticks at Jimin.
"Hyung!!" Jimin giggles and buries his face in his hands, "I mean... kind of... but not like... everything." He mumbles through his hands.
"Oh whoa, you really are serious about him then."
"Yes!" Jimin drops his hands back down on the table. "I think I'm falling in love with him." He then suddenly admits. Hearing himself say that out loud feels so good. It feels like the truth. He wishes he could say it to Yoongi himself in person.
"Love?? Loooove? Jimin-a. You have to tell me more about him. Tell me everything."
"Oh man, he's such an interesting character. Very honest and sweet, grumpy but cute... He owns the Airbnb and the cafe under it, where he is working most of the time. He also does some music things and it's so good... He keeps surprising me with new information about him and I just want to get to know him in every way. Oh, and he's freaking gorgeous." Jimin gushes.
"He sounds really nice Jimin-a. Do you have a picture?"
"Sure!" Jimin happily shows him a picture that he took of him at the cafe.
"Oooh, very handsome indeed!" Jin takes another big bite of the pancake and continues with his mouth full, "So, are you going to tell your parents? Like, how secret is this information?"
"Hmm... I don't now yet. I think I won't tell my parents until things are more... official. But I don't think I mind if my friends know I'm dating him. Just... maybe don't spread it around just yet hyung."
"Oh, I wouldn't Jimin-a, of course not." Jin pretends to zip up his lips. "But what about the distance? When are you going to see him again?"
"He's coming to visit here for a weekend next month." Jimin smiles proudly. "But we haven't really talked about what happens after that, I mean, we only really just met." He chuckles.
"Yeah, step by step. But that's a good sign that he's coming to visit you here. He must really like you, as he should."
"I really can't wait..."
