Chapter Two

Chapter 2-Flashback/Prologue Continues.

After six years of a Vegas Agreement with his Ace, it was time for him and Odette to announce their engagement. Mitchum was ready to step down. In the past two years, Rory had gotten to know Odette. She liked her. She knew the arrangement. She told Logan she needed to step back and let him fulfill his family obligation .. He was thriving at his job. He loved it. He has proven to be a greater business man than Mitchum or Elis. He was in part responsible for bringing the company forward with the online blogs, digital outlets as well as setting up apps for filtering out fake news.

Logan wanted her to tell him she wanted him and they would figure a way out. But she didn't want to be the reason he didn't succeed. Logan had a bright future as CEO. She left his London apartment the day the press conference was scheduled to announce MItchum was stepping down and Logan was taking over as CEO. The party following would be the venue used to announce the engagement of Logan Elisa Huntzburger, Heir to Huntzburger Publishing Group to Odette Renee' Mar'tin, Heiress to Martin Fashion House. This included publications such as 'Marie Claire', 'Madame FIgaro', L'Officiel just to mention a few.

Lorelia 'Rory' Leigh Hayden-Gilmore was in the air when both announcements were made. She was glad she was flying first class, the flight attendants knew when to leave you alone.

It had been two months since she had seen Logan. She purposely would not read news articles about him. She refused to let herself grieve. She filled her days with writing her book.

She was living in the Hartford Manor, well she was living in her bedroom and the study. The study still smelled of her grandfather, Cigars and Cognac. It has been three years since her grandfather passed. Emily, her grandmother, moved to Nantucket a couple of years ago. She signed the Hartford Manor over to Rory. She was using her trust fund from Trix to maintain it, but she had yet to feel at home. She and Emily, along with Lorelai have discussed plans for renovations more suited for Rory, but she is yet to hire a contractor. She was happy right now just living in her bedroom and her grandfather's study. The living room and kitchen was functional, just not to her taste.

October 5, 2017

Lane was visiting. She, Lane and Paris were going out tonight..They were having a girls night. Finn of course was joining them. He stayed in touch with Rory when he was in the states. He is one of the few that knew about her and Logan. Colin, Finn, Honor, Josh, Odette, Paris and Lane. Quit a number of people to keep a secret.

Rory's birthday is Saturday and Lorelai had a big party planned in Stars Hollow, Emily was to arrive Friday. She would be staying with Rory. The girls decided to take Rory out on the town to celebrate before the big hoo ha. Her dad offered his car service so they would not have to worry about drinking and driving.

Finn rented out one of the smaller Party rooms at the Grand Morgan, one of his family holdings. They were enjoying a quiet dinner, as quiet as you could be with Finn in attendance, when one of the serving staff spilled a drink on Rory.

Lane jumped up, "Come with me," She told Rory. "Let me see if I can get the stain out before it sets." She had Rory's hand and was pulling her to the bathroom, while the waiter was apologizing. While they were trying to get the stain out when Paris entered with a garment bag.

"Here Gilmore," She said. "Put this on. The next part of your surprise is beginning."

Rory took the garment bag and changed. She was laughing when she came out of the stall. "Where are we going?" She laughed. "To a steampunk convention?" She was placing the top hat on her head while looking in the mirror when she realized she was the only one in the bathroom. When she entered the reserved room, the lights were dimmed and 'Blue Moon' was playing. She stopped. The hair on the back of her neck was standing up. Logan was standing in the middle of the dance floor. They danced and enjoyed their friends all night. When it was time to leave, Finn handed them a key card to his reserved room.

"Ace?" Logan said. "Will you join me.?" That smirk, how could she resist that smirk. She took his hand and they left the party.

The next morning, Rory was awake and dressed before Logan got up. She was sitting, watching him sleep.

"Ace," Logan said, bringing her out of her thoughts, "Come back to bed."

"How much longer?" She asked.

He frowned. "I have a flight out at noon. Odette and I are expected at some charity event tonight."

She nodded. "Are you going to marry her?" Please tell me no, you want to marry me.

"That's the plan" He told her. Please tell me not to.

Neither one of them spoke up.

Rory rode to the Airport with him in the limo. With the tinted windows, no one would be able to see. He was leaving on Colin's family jet. Colin was going with him.

This was their last goodbye. This will be the last time they will see each other as single people for at least five years. This thought was going through both their heads as he left the limo to board the plane. Little did either one of them know, Logan left a souvenir with Rory.
