-Annabeth

A girl named Beth was being driven through a dense forest, for a reason she didn't understand. From what she had heard, she was being taken away from her home for "her own protection." She hadn't spoken a word throughout the entire drive because she was just trying to understand why she had been taken away. She had been born in Greece and had moved all around the world to the point where she had learned almost every accent. Now that she was in California, she was learning the accent here. She had shoulder length brown hair, fair skin tone, and brown eyes. As they drove through the forest, she began to see an archway with a sign hanging from it. As they got closer, she could read the sign, and it said Holy Haven.
"What is this place?" She finally asked her driver as they stopped in front of the arch way.
"This is your new home, young lady," The man said as he got out and unlocked her door "Welcome to-"
"I can read," She groaned and got out of the car "You do realize this is a kidnapping, right?"
"Actually, this is us saving you. People such as yourself must be taken here at the very latest by your age if they want to live."
"Hm, sure." She walked through the arch and asked "What? Are you not coming in with me?"
"I am not permitted. I am a transporter, nothing more."
"So, you are just leaving me here to fend for myself?"
"You will soon meet your new neighbors. Until we meet again." Before she could say something more, her driver and his car disappeared.
"Uh... okay then. I suppose I should do as he said."
She began to walk through the small... town? Camp? She couldn't exactly place what this place was. There was absolutely no technology or electronics anywhere, which was strange. She was told that this place was supposed to be a safe haven, but she had expected at least some kind of contact with the outside world. She could see a bunch of people walking around, a few staring at her as they passed. She could read all of the signs that had been put up at the intersections between different... blocks? She could see the names of different Gods such as Poseidon, Thor, Odin, and even Athena... which was glowing for some reason. She walked toward the sign and looked up at it, but then she noticed that the glow wasn't brightening anything else up. She looked around for someone and saw a girl who looked like she was about five, maybe six years older than her walking towards an Ares hut.
Beth walked over to the girl and asked "Hey, why is that sign glowing like that?"
The girl looked up at the sign and couldn't see the glow, so she looked back down at Beth, and asked "Oh, are you new here?"
"Yes, why?"
"Whenever a sign glows, that is  the block you are a part of. Find the glowing house and log it to memory because it will not glow again after today."
"Oh, okay thank y-" She pushed past Beth and just kept walking "Uh... okay." Beth walked to the glowing house and put down the backpack she had put together before leaving home after finding the bed "So, what should I do now? Maybe I could go out and meet people, but that may be a little awkward. I think I will just go and look around this place."
She walked out of the little hut and out into what she could only assume to be a town of sorts. Beth still didn't understand any of what was going on, but she knew that this was a very strange place. There were weapons stands near every block as if they didn't have guns. People were all walking around in normal clothes, but no one had a phone, or video game... at least that she could see. Most of them seemed to be maybe four or five years older than her, so she had expected to see some kind of electronics in someone's hand by now. So far, all she saw was people walking around, talking to friends, or reading books, or training. Everyone looked so different, and yet no one looked foreign to her as she had been all over the world by now. There were so many diverse people that she wondered if being here really was all that special. Maybe this was just some elaborate joke for parents to send their children away to some kind of camp or something. Beth and her parents weren't on the greatest terms right now as... well she had no clue what her dad did for work, but he was always gone when she could get home from her temporary school. She had never met her mother, but her father never wanted to talk about her, so she knew next to nothing, not even her name. Everyone at school would always try and stay away from her whereas here, it was like no one even noticed her.
"I wonder what those signs mean..." She pondered aloud, then she noticed something different about one of the other boys "Hold on, what?"
He looked almost the exact same as any other person, with just one simple difference. He had dark skin, curly hair, and a slim yet athletic build. He was wearing simple sweatpants and a hoodie with a German band's name on it, or at least it looked German. The thing that caught her eye... was in fact his eyes. Unlike everyone else, his were purple and seemed to be swirling and pulsing with some kind of strange energy. It was unlike anything he had ever seen, and yet no one seemed to mind it, it was like no one even noticed. She was about to go up to him when she saw another boy walk up to the one with strange eyes. The new boy was clearly a few years older than her, but the one with strange eyes was probably her age. The boy was reading some strange looking book and the older boy came up and slapped it out of his hand. Beth was shocked and went over to go help, when the strange eyed boy just got up.
"Pick it up, or I'll put you down," He told the older boy "'Van, we know you can't beat me, so just pick it up, and leave me alone."
"I am sick of your disrespect, Noah," The older boy said "And stop calling me that ridiculous name. I am Estevan, the son of-"
"The God of War, Ares. Yeah, yeah. I'm well aware of that, seeing as you've never shut up about it."
"Hmph, I still can't believe how rude a ten year old can be," Estivan scoffed.
"I've been stuck dealing with you dummies for like four years now, you'd think I'd pick up some of your characteristics."
"Oh, that does it!"
Estevan was a few inches taller than Nate, and was also much wider with a stocky build. He had long black hair and a dark skin tone. He was wearing a military jacket and a t-shirt with a spartan helmet on the front. He also had some combat boots on and cargo shorts that showed his muscular legs.
Beth started to run over to them when Estivan pulled his fist back, but stopped when Noah casually ducked around the attack with a yawn. She was amazed because he hadn't even been looking at Estevan, instead he had knelt down to pick up his book again. He got his book off the ground and sighed while dusting it off. He had his back to Beth, but something about the way he was standing made her think he knew she was watching. She watched as he turned and looked at her, then jerked his head away from Estevan's next punch from behind. He looked back at him and casually slapped him in the face, which knocked Estevan back.
"Are you finished?" Noah asked as he put his book down on the log he had been sitting on "If so, then I'd love for you to buzz off already."
"Oh, you think you have authority here?"
"Yup, 'cause you can't touch me. Hey, new girl. What's your deal?"
"Wha- what? Oh, well... uh... lookout-"
"Yeah, yeah," He sighed while ducking under another punch and he fell towards Beth "Come on, beating Van around is fun."
She nodded and kicked him in the chest, which caused Estevan to stumble back towards Noah. The boy crouched down and spun with a leg extended, which knocked Estevan down onto his back. Estevan scrambled back up to his feet and swung a punch at Noah, but he ducked underneath the attack. He got up and lightly palm struck Estevan in the chest to give Beth another chance to hit him. She punched him in the nose and this caused him to fall back towards Noah, who calmly kneed him in the stomach. He staggered back towards Beth, who kicked him in the chest, then he fell towards Noah, who simply knife struck him in the back of the neck, knocking him out.
"Nice," He said while walking over Estevan and toward Beth "So, like I asked before. What's up with you?"
"Wait, why are you using contractions?"
"Because I'm an Aesir born. You Olympian born aren't allowed and are physically unable to use this kind of language. The Olympians are so pretentious that they think that this kind of language is... I dunno, uncivilized I guess?"
"And these Aesir do not think like that?"
"The Aesir only believes in two things. Power and partying... and every now and then, maybe some light uh... kid making every once in a while."
"So what? We are all the kids of different Gods? You have to be kidding."
"Why do you think I was able to dodge all his attacks like that? It's not like I have eyes in the back of my head. Your powers clearly haven't manifested yet, have they?"
"N-no, I suppose not. What are yours?"
"Well, so far I've been able to see a second into the future during a fight, read minds, and throw Bifrost at people," Noah replied calmly, which made Beth curious, but mostly about that word she had never heard before.
"Wait, what is Bifrost?" Beth asked as they walked away from Estevan, which gave Noah a good excuse to step on his head one more time and pick his book up.
As they walked through the town, Noah began to explain the differences between the different pantheons. While the Greek and Roman Gods were essentially the same, every other pantheon was wildly different. The Norse pantheon was arguably the most blood hungry over all. While the Titanomachy was done mostly out of need, the genocide of the Jotenar was simply because of Odin's unreasonable fear that they would turn on him. The Japanese pantheon was mostly peaceful and every different pantheon has their own version of death and the afterlife. In some, there's just one place you go to, in some it depends on how you died or decided to live your life.
"So, is there any Olympian born who isn't like... whatever his name was?"
"Oh yeah, there's Kenneth, he's one of Hermes' kids and he's a good friend of mine. He'll be able to tell you more about Olympians."
"Why him and not you?"
"Because I'm an Aesir, not an Olympian. I don't know much about them... so Kenneth would be your best bet."
"Oh, okay. So what are you going to do now?"
"I'm just gonna head back and continue reading some of grandpa's spell books. I'm not really sure if you can actually learn them because they're Vanir magic."
"I... you know what? I do not think asking about that is going to clear anything up."
"It's really not. Listen, go find Kenneth, he'll be in the third Hermes cabin on the left, and we can talk more later, alright?" She nodded and he walked away, leaving her... still very much confused.
