Kenneth was the only person Gulltoppr seemed to trust to steer him aside from Nate, so he took the lion's reins. They rode as fast as they could until they could no longer see the White House, then they went at a bit of a slower pace. They had quickly realized that the warriors had never given chance and Kenneth seemed to know exactly where he was going. When Nate had been driving, he had some idea of where he was going, but Kenneth clearly knew exactly where he wanted to go.
"If I may ask, where are we going?" Eden asked, "I doubt Athena will let us just go back home now that we have done all that."
"Back to our home? No," Kenneth agreed "However, I have a home that Athena should not know about."
"What?"
"Hey, just because none of you know your mortal parents does not mean I do not," Kenneth reminded the group.
As they rode through the streets on Gulltoppr, they came across a gravel road. The crunch under Gulltoppr's paws was the only thing they could hear aside from the wind as the houses were very quiet. As they rode through the street, they finally stopped in front of a two story house.
"Okay, here we are." They got off Gulltoppr who sat down.
"Where are we?"
Kenneth went up the steps to the front door and knocked on the door, then replied "My mom's house."
After a couple minutes, a woman opened the door and smiled, seeing Kenneth. Hayden realized that he looked kind of like Nate's mother, except taller, much less sickly, and she had brown eyes instead of blue. The woman was walking on crutches, but her body language was very light and positive.
"Kenneth, sweetie! It's been too long since you've been home," She exclaimed as she hugged her son.
"Hey mom," Kenneth replied with a smile as he hugged her back "How are you? Why are you on crutches?"
"Oh, I've been okay. Prince, the old stallion decided to be tough one day and kicked me in the leg," She replied "It'll heal in time, honey. Oh, are these your friends?" Kenneth nodded "I don't think I've made any of their acquaintances." She moved to his friends and met them all one by one, then asked "Wait, where's that Nate boy? You always used to be around him all the time."
"He... Beth? Would you mind?" She nodded and walked over to Gulltoppr, then carefully took Nate's bloody, battered body and Kenneth's mother gasped.
"Oh, my lord. Please, come in. I have a room you can put him in, but I don't really have anything for his... uh... arm."
They were about to come into the house, but Hayden stopped in front of the house, which prompted Beth to ask "What is it?"
"We just pissed off Athena and she did say she would destroy everything you care about. What if before any of us, she goes after the camp and destroys it. I've gotta go back and make sure it's protected."
"Then we will all go," Beth said.
"No, I'm going alone, you're all gonna be fine without me, plus I'm the only one here who can get there without the animal."
"Nate told you not to call Gulltoppr that," Eden reminded him.
"He's barely alive right now, what's he gonna do?" Hayden retorted "Look, it's the best plan. Plus, it makes sure that if one group gets targeted, the other still has a chance to finish this."
"I... as much as I hate to admit it, you are right," Beth admitted "But please be careful." She kissed Hayden and held his face for a moment, then she pulled back.
"I'm leaving, too," Marc said "I should go talk to the Gods in the Nine Realms. They've got some tips and tricks that should be able to help us." They nodded and Marc used the clouds to travel within a lightning bolt while Hayden disappeared into a cloud of decay.
"Alright... now that we have our little group, why don't you kids have a look around. It's not too big, but I think you'll be comfortable as long as you stay here." Tracy showed them around the house and Beth put Nate down in the bed in the guest room "Shouldn't we give him some anesthesia for that arm when he wakes up? Or maybe disinfect it?"
"We are not afflicted by mortal illnesses," Beth explained while looking over her battered friend "He will be fine as long as he manages to figure out how to fight without his arm."
"That does not look like a clean cut, it looks like it was torn off," Eden finally noticed as she looked down at the stub "Why has it never bled since Kenneth found him?"
"I never even questioned that," Kenneth admitted "I was so focused on getting him out that I did not notice that. There was a bit of Bifrost on the floor, though."
"Must've been one hell of a fight," Mikayla said "Oh, jesus. She got kinky with him!"
"What... in the fuck are you talking about?" Beth asked.
"Look at the bruises on his neck. She choked him the fuck out," Mikayla pointed out.
"Oh, yeah, she is right," Eden said "How did he even survive? She clearly wanted him dead."
"She either just wanted him to stop, or he figured out how to play dead that well," Kenneth suggested. "Either way, I doubt he is going to be waking up too soon."
They left the room and Kenneth's mom, who introduced herself as Tracey, let them explore her house. Despite being the mortal parent of a Demigod, she was very normal. From the outside looking in, you would never expect her son to be one of the most powerful beings in the world. Really, looking at any of them, you wouldn't expect them to be as powerful as they were. For the first time in years, they had a steady roof over their heads and they were far away from Athena. Aside from the T.V., a phone, and a computer, the place didn't have much technology. This wasn't an issue for them as they had grown up without technology, but it was still interesting. After a while, the group all went to do their own things around the house. Eden had found a bunch of books she had never read and decided to try them out. They were all by the same person, someone called R.L. Stein. She sat down in Tracey's basement and began to read them all. Upstairs in the kitchen, Tracey was teaching Mikayla, Beth, and Kenneth how to play Uno. After a while, they had gotten better at it and started playing on their own.
"What is this game, dude!?" Kenneth exclaimed "Are you serious? Where are the red cards!?" After pulling nine cards, he finally took a green "Holy shit!!!" He slapped it down and Mikayla looked over at Beth, who was slowly drawing her card to play.
"Oh, don't do it... oh don't do it," Mikayla begged Beth as she tried to contain her laughter at Kenneth's rage.
Beth put a reverse card down and looked up at Kenneth, who yelled "I do not have a red!!!" This caused Mikayla to break down laughing and she fell down on the floor, and then she basically lost her mind as Kenneth let out a long high pitched screech.
