Now that Beth and Hayden had run and Nate took his sword out of its sheath on his hip, and held it in a relaxed ready position as he asked "Why put your daughter through all this?"
"I had to test her to see if she was truly worthy to become the new Goddess of War and Wisdom once I claim father's throne for myself."
"This'll be your second failed coup against the man whore," Nate told her in response to her explanation "Thing is, she ain't like you and I. At least not anymore..."
Athena tilted her head to the side and asked "What are you saying?"
"You and I both have it, it's deep in our roots. A dark desire to fight. You? You wanna prove you're more powerful and better than Ares... which I mean yeah, you are. Me? Lady, I'm just a person who loves himself a good fight, but Beth's not like that. Your blood's what made her divine, sure... but that doesn't mean your hearts' natures are the same."
"Why are you speaking in such a way? This is not like you."
"Maybe this is just me when I'm being serious, ever thought about that?" Nate asked, looking deep into Athena's eyes "I know when to draw my sword, but she knows when to draw the line. She's not like you or I, that's why I know she'll be able to put her weapons down and become something more than what you can ever manage to become."
"You are an insolent child, Nate," Athena scolded him "I will give you one more chance, back down now and I will spare your life." She looked into Nate's eyes, then remembered something about his past, and asked "Even now that he is gone, his ghost, his memory continues to haunt you, does it not?" Nate's grip on his sword tightened, he didn't know how she knew about his past, but he hated her for it "Ah yes, it seems the pain he had wrought on your life and mind are still fresh upon you."
"Oh, to Hel with this!" Nate charged at her, ready to swing his sword through her.
She used his out of character opening and summoned a spear to her hand, then slammed it against his chest. Nate dropped the blade as he was thrown against the wall and before he could react, she stabbed at his chest. Nate saw the spear coming so he tried to move, but he wasn't fast enough. He managed to move his body out of a lethal strike's way, but the spear's tip dug through his bicep! Nate yelled out in pain and rage and kicked her backwards before struggling to pull his arm out of the wall, but it was ultimately useless. He stopped struggling and just stood against the wall with his head hung toward the floor while breathing heavily.
"You see, Nate? None of my warriors would have ever been outplayed quite that easily," Athena told him while summoning another spear to her hand and tapping its blade with her finger "You could have had the training necessary not to let your feelings cause such a fatal error."
"Oh, here we go," Nate groaned, irritated at the arrogance of the Olympian, but then when she turned away, he said "Wait a minute, what the Hel is going on in that empty... head?" She turned around, and even though he could not see her thoughts, her intention gave away all he needed to know "What the...? Oh no. No, no, no," He snarled "Do you really think you get to spare me because of some semblance of pity!?" He let out a labored, angry laugh at the very idea of this.
"Come with me quietly and I will let you live," Athena assured him, but Nate was already too far gone.
"I'm sorry... come quietly?" He scoffed, his eyes turning a darker shade of bloody red with sparkles of unstable rainbow just barely noticeable within them "You... broke Beth's body... you stole her life! And now you think I'll work with you as some kind of bargaining chip?" Nate asked "Oh, now I am definitely going to gut you-" She cut him off by blowing up the spear in his arm, causing him to scream out in agony as he fell to his knees, looking at the bloody stump that was left of his arm!
"This will be the final time I offer," Athena told him as she began to walk towards the door "Mainly because I doubt a warning is going to cut it."
"Oh... oh, you think you get to... turn your back to me?" Nate asked as he slowly looked up, a deranged, maddened smile slowly revealing his bloody golden teeth "Nah... nah, bitch..." Nate used his still unscathed left arm to help push himself up and Athena turned to him with a sigh "That's not how this is gonna work... you... are not going to decide... my fate!" He closed his eyes and let out a yell of pain and determination, sending all of the Bifrost power he currently had in reserve into the stub of his arm.
"What in the... what is this?" Athena asked, but he just continued yelling.
A perfect recreation of his arm formed from the stub, completely formed out of Bifrost and he looked up at her again, then said in a more quiet, sinister tone "Your pathetic warriors tried to take over the Haven... you destroyed part of my home... but worst of all, you messed with my friends..." He looked up into her eyes, his now a darker shade of red with crackling sparks of rainbow "Only one of us... is walking away from this," Nate told her, his new fingers twitching and jittering "And it sure as shit will not be you!"
Nate looked down at his arm and closed and opened his fist just to gain full control over it. Once he knew he had full control of his arm, he looked over at Athena and grinned again. He ran at her again with a loud, unusually enraged roar and swung at her chest. Athena hadn't been expecting this and put her arms up to block the attack. The force of Nate's wild, uncontrolled punch paired with the enhanced power of the Bifrost launched her through the door. She got off of her back and felt something slowly running from her nose. She looked down and touched it, then looked down at her finger, and saw... her ichor? She got up and summoned another spear to her hand, thinking this fight would be as easy as the last one.
"Hey, Athena! New amendment... die!!!" Nate suddenly ran at her, cackling like a madman before jumping and grabbing her by the face with his Bifrost hand, while she was in his grip, he told her "You are in way over your head!" She barely had time to process the shaking and breaks in his voice before his arm blew up internally, knocking them both away from each other.
Nate recreated his arm, then jumped back, and used World Lag again, but this time, it actually slowed her down. She threw her spear at him as he charged at her, but he just slapped it out of the air, and pushed her with both hands once he was in range. She fell backwards into a counter and it crumbled when she fell on it. Athena got up and got her bearings back, then when Nate punched at her face with the Bifrost fist, she ducked away. She moved behind him and backed back into the Oval Office. Nate ran at her again and swung a wild uppercut at her, but she jumped out of the way. He spun around, swung his leg around, and slammed his Bifrost fist into Athena's chest, which knocked her backwards again.
"Enough!" She told him as she jumped forward and swung a heavy punch into his sternum "You have given up your own self control for a simple boost of your abilities?" She pulled her fist out of his chest and heel kicked him in the stomach then grabbed his hair before he fell backwards "Such a tradeoff could never topple a Goddess such as myself!" She hook punched him across the face and sent him crashing into a few filing cabinets, which ended up with him buried underneath them "Is something the matter, Nate? Losing too much blood already? This surely shows you that there is no way for a Demigod like you to defeat me-" Nate suddenly jumped out with another maddened yell and swung a hook punch across her face with the Bifrost fist, sending her flying against a window "You disgusting halfbreed! What kind of trickery is this?" Nate didn't even respond, he just ran at her with his arm pulled back again "Not this again."
Athena jumped out of the way and Nate punched the floor, causing a small explosion of Bifrost to erupt from the impact point. He got up and swung a hook punch at her jaw, but Athena jumped away from the attack. He spun around and threw another uncontrolled punch, but she just sidestepped this one as well. She summoned a sword to her hand and slashed at his neck, but Nate jumped away from the attack. He landed a few feet away and thrust his hand into the floor, then ran at her. She was confused as to why he didn't take his hand out of the floor as she ran at him, but she quickly got her answer. Nate swung his arm up at her and a giant chunk of the floor also flew at Athena's face. She didn't have time to react before the chunk crashed into her.
"I'm not gonna join you Athena; I'll make sure you're dead!" he yelled as he jumped at her.
Nate swung a punch at her temple, but Athena used both forearms to block the Bifrost fist. Nate grabbed her by the face and dragged her across the floor before throwing her against the wall. She bounced off of the wall and leapt towards Nate with a roundhouse kick to his jaw. Nate grunted from the attack, then uppercut Athena in the chin. He spun around and side kicked her in the stomach, then sent a wave of Bifrost at her. She jumped away from the attack, then ran at him again. When she got within range, Nate, with an unhinged grin, pulled his head back, then slammed his forehead into Athena's nose. Athena stumbled back with a grunt and Nate swung a phoenix fist into her ribs.
Athena stumbled for a moment before shaking her head and she yelled "Enough of this pointless resistance!" She swung a hook punch across Nate's face and threw him down to the floor "Enough of your derangement. Now do as I command and stay down!"
Nate groaned as he pushed himself back up, then turned to Athena, and gave her another blood soaked grin as he asked "Enough... no, no, no, not even close." Athena suddenly used the same attack he just used on him "Argh... I think you can do better than that." He was wobbling in his stance and Athena uppercut him in the jaw, sending him flying backwards, and he landed on the back of his neck.
She panted for breath as she looked down at his limp body, then proclaimed "You will not be getting up this time."
She turned to walk away, only to hear Nate rasp out "Didn't you... you hear what I said?" She turned around, shocked that he was getting up despite the amount of damage he had taken. "This isn't over yet."
He slowly got up and ran at Athena, only to be roundhouse kicked across the jaw. He stumbled backwards and Athena grabbed the back of his head. She jumped up into the air and smashed his face into the ceiling, then swung him down into the floor.
She held his arm behind his back and asked "What is wrong? Is your little power increase beginning to fade?"
"You're getting too arrogant!" Nate told her as he began to charge Bifrost in his eyes.
"What the-" She was suddenly blown backwards and when she gained her footing again she saw Nate in the air falling towards her.
Before she could react, Nate swung a punch into her stomach, which knocked the wind out of Athena, then he continued barraging her with stomach punches after telling her "Here's what I think of your immortality!"
"You... you little monstrosity."
"Athena, you'll never defeat me!"
"We will see, child."
She hook punched him in the nose to get his fist out of her stomach, then took a few deep breaths. He just stood there and took another hook punch across the jaw. Athena spun around and kicked him in the chest, which knocked Nate against the wall. She stepped forward and heel kicked him in the sternum, then punched him into the wall. Athena spun around and swung a hook kick into his head, which caused him to fall to the floor in the middle of the office. He got up laughing maniacally, then ran at her again and tried to grab her with the Bifrost hand. She ducked away from the attack, then summoned a spear, and stabbed down at his head. Nate ducked away from the attack, then dashed away from another stab. Nate ran at her again and palmed at her nose, but she used a shield to block the attack. She pushed him back and swung a spear down at his head, but he blocked the attack with his forearm. He knocked her weapon away, then hook punched at Athena's jaw.
"You are losing yourself, Nate," She told him as she swung her knee up into his chin "Perhaps you should sit down and get your wits about you." She put her foot down and punched him in the stomach, then roundhouse kicked him in the chest, sending him flying backwards against the wall again "No one has ever survived this long against me in battle before."
"I'm gonna take your divine ass out... if it's the last thing I do!"
She suddenly began barraging him with punches, each one feeling like a wrecking ball. Nate had no time to react as he was overwhelmed by the crashing wave of attacks being thrown at him. He finally managed to kick her in the chest to stop her and leapt into the air.
"Why won't you die?!?" Nate roared.
She stepped out of the way as he swung his fist down into the floor. Another Bifrost explosion erupted from the impact point and Nate jumped at her again. She rolled out of the way and when his fist impacted the ground, another, slightly larger, Bifrost explosion radiated out of his fist. He yelled as he jumped and punched down at her again, but once more, she just moved out of his way. His fist dug into the floor and he snarled as he flooded the floor around his fist with Bifrost. Athena had no idea what kind of attack this was, but she didn't have any desire to touch the foreign energy. Nate suddenly yelled and ripped his fist out of the ground while causing a massive explosion to rock the entire White House! Athena was shocked at the power he displayed as normally, his destructive abilities weren't all that impressive. When the smoke cleared Nate punched her in the back of the head and tried to tackle her.
"Enough of this!" Athena snarled as she turned around and uppercut him in the chin.
She kneed him in the stomach, then hammer fisted him across the jaw, causing him to twist as he fell to the floor and landed on his stomach. Nate slammed his fist on the ground and tried to get up, only for Athena to slam his head to the floor. Blood spurted out of his nose as she shoved his head into the floor with her foot, then she knelt down, and grabbed him by the back of the neck and hair. She swung his face into the floor three more times before flipping him over her shoulder. She slammed him down on his back and put her knee down on his chest while gripping his throat with both hands. Nate tried to struggle against her, but it looked like all the fight in him had been drained.
He grabbed her head and had a brief look into her mind, which gave him a chance to utter the word "Monstrous..." His arm dematerialized and his normal one fell away from her as his eyes closed.
