To my ears

You were music to my ears,
Shuffling you was not enough
So i placed you on repeat.
I convinced myself that you
Were the only song i would
Listen to without pause.

Kept true to my word, i did.
Once or twice was not enough
And i kept pressing play.
Time and again i listened
Thinking i would get tired
Before the record is.

Naive i was to the detriments
This would bring.
The scratch and the lesions on the vinyl
Brought the song to a halt.
Tried many ways to fix it but
She had given up on me.
Then it dawned on me
That i had overplayed my part
In her life.
