Platinum hair and moonlit skin — the colour palette of walking passersby dulled in comparison to his. His eyes were the hue of emeralds, carrying a depth comparable to the ocean.

Peculiar yet enigmatic. Idly, she stood from afar, watching as his figure retreated from the sky. Even as he was landing from the air, no one batted an eye. The world kept moving on except for hers. As if, out of everyone here, she was the only one privy to this sight.

His eyes, his hair, his figure...none of that came as a surprise to her. This image of him had long been engraved into the fine lines of her mind. After so many years, it would be concerning if she didn't remember his face by now.

This man with no name. To Karin, he was a familiar stranger whose presence was as fickle as the weather. He always appeared and disappeared without warning. And no matter what, in this little game of hers, she would find him every time.

That was why this summer's day was no different. With the sun in her eye, all it took was a blink and he would be gone again.

She dropped her gaze and focused back on the crosswalk. The one thing she would say was that she wished she could've heard his voice one day.

" AHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhh"

Karin whipped her head to the sound of someone's shriek, wondering what they were screaming at. But flashing lights and an incoming three-quarter-ton truck made it all too clear.

In less than a second, her body collided against heavy metal and her ears started ringing.

The next thing she knew, her view was on the ground. The truck toppled over and people lay injured on the rough cement.

She tried to stand up but failed; a surge of excruciating pain overwhelmed her battered body. With each breath she took, her lungs felt heavier, and she could slowly feel herself bleeding out.

Karin wavered in between consciousness, slowly going in and out as her blood loss became too great. At the edge of life, she sensed every cell struggling to keep her alive.

Tears welled up in the corner of her eyes as sobs barely left her lips. Her energy was dissipating quicker than she thought. She couldn't even cry if she wanted to.

'Fuck, It's over.' She dreaded.

Flashes of her life appeared in a snapshot as a single thought crossed her mind - her family. How will they react? Will they be okay? At the very least she wished she could see them one last time.

As the darkness started to shroud in, Karin found herself staring into the green eyes of death.

It was not her family or friends she saw first but him.

Isn't it strange how the universe works? A man whose name she didn't know was the first and last person she saw.

It was summer. The day she died.
