My mom is gonna kill me when she finds out I did no lit work this whole week... but it's ok because I tested out of a whole math unit and got to skip it... right? I'm 13 assignments behind in lit. I'm writing this instead of my lit stuff because it's more important to me.
It was now Wednesday, four days later. Dream was finally unbanned from seeing his friends and it was his sibling's, Alex's, birthday today. He had already talked to his football coach, letting him know that he wouldn't be at practice today to celebrate their birthday. He hadn't told his family yet; it was meant to be a surprise.
George was also supposed to be coming over for Alex's birthday. They had planned this on their date the past Saturday. Alex was excited that George was able to come and so was Dream; he would gladly use any excuse to be with George as much as possible.
It was finally their last class of the day and both Dream and George were getting antsy to leave. Sitting through another class felt like torture to them, especially Dream. He could barely sit through a whole class on a regular day, let alone a day like today where he was excited and ready to go home after having to sit all day.
He always had a hard time paying attention and taking notes. Most teachers and students at the school knew that as he unintentionally made it very obvious. His knee was often bouncing and as much as he tried to keep from doodling while taking notes, his pencil somehow would end up drawing shapes across the paper. Not having any notes made it hard to study too, he had no idea what he was supposed to be studying most of the time.
Dream had thought about dropping out more than once, George was one of the only reasons he still wanted to stay. Of course, his parents wouldn't let him drop out but that wasn't a good reason not to do it, in his opinion at least. His parents told him not to do things often but if he listened to them all the time, his life wouldn't be very interesting.
They used to tell him not to get into relationships because he was "too young" but he ignored that one until they eventually gave up. He didn't let their punishments affect him and it worked. They didn't want to spend that much time disciplining him, they had enough children to deal with and the argument wasn't worth it for them anymore.
He tried his best in school but it definitely wasn't for him and he knew that about himself.
Since Dream and George were in the same class, they had walked there together and sat in the same seats they did every day, right next to each other. They were earlier than usual which was a rare occurrence. Dream hated being early but George had changed him, in a good way.
They spent the extra time chatting about their plans for after school, "Is someone else giving you a ride? If not, I can give you a ride to my house after school."
George thought about it, knowing that he didn't have Alex's gift with him. He had ordered them something and it was supposed to be delivered by now.
"I need to get Alex's gift from my house first," he responded.
"Your house is on the way to mine so we can stop by first if you want?" Dream offered to George.
George smiled at Dream while nodding, "Sure, thank you."
Dream hummed in response as the bell rang. Both Dream and George looked up to the front of the room to wait for instructions. Everyone began to pull out their notebooks and writing utensils, Dream and George following suit.
Dream's name began to bounce as the teacher took attendance, calling out each student's name. Attendance felt like a big waste of time, couldn't the teacher just look around and know who was missing?
