As I'm walking next to Lilian through the large, white corridors with wine-red carpets on the floor, i'm thinking about how my day is going so far.
I met Thea, who I really look up to. I have to admit that i would die for her look, body and self-confidence. I bet no one is talking anymore the moment she starts to open her mouth and i'm sure everyone will agree with her, doesn't matter whatever she's saying. She is my key for gaining popularity and finally don't be inconspicuous and not interesting enough to anyone anymore. But sadly, she isn't my roommate.
I don't want to say that I don't like Lilian, she seems and is a really nice person, but she would get along better with the old Madeleine. Now that im on my journey to change my life, there is no fitting place for a girl who is like Lilian, at least not as a friend or bestfriend. I accept her as a roommate, but I won't gossip or go to parties with her, thats for sure!
I could already smell the dinner, it smelled like something familiar, i would guess spaghetti with tomato sauce.
We enter the hall and I'm speechless. The floor is also covered with dark red carpets just like the hallways and the roof must be 5 meters high. I count 4 large chandeliers in symmetrical order and exactly 10 large windows with curtains, the same red tone as the carpet. In this room you can also see decorations and ornamentations on the walls, they form patterns of circles and waves. In the corners and at the edges of every wall it's embellished with stripes of gold, which made the hall look luxurious and ancient.
A total number of 12 large tables fill the room, with approximately 400 students sitting around them, standing, talking or waiting in the queue for their food.
I have to realize for a few seconds, that this is real and not just a weird or unrealistic dream I have. No, this is my cafeteria and my college now, I'm officially a student, going to the most luxurious college I've ever seen in my entire life.
>> Come with me, I'll show you where we can sit <<
I hear Lilians voice next to my ear, making me flinch because I was dreaming. She leads me to a table right next to the big windows, through which I'm able to look at the enormous park at the campus.
>> Hey Samantha, Hey Olivia! <<
She greets two girls while sitting down next to them.
>> You can take this seat, <<
She says, pointing at the seat across from her. I sit down, looking at the girls next to Lilian.
>> Hi, i'm Samantha! <<
A brunette, hazel eyed girl says to me. She smiles and looks really kind, but she is just like Lilian. Softgirlcore and with a blue flower pattern dress.
Olivia looks slightly different, black jeans and a dark blue crop-top, which matches her blue eyes. I'm really jealous of her long, dark blonde hair, falling in styled curls over her shoulders. She grins at me, saying:
>> I'm Olivia, obviously since that's Samantha. << I laugh, that's true, of course she must be Olivia.
We go to the lunch queue and wait there together, while talking a little bit.
Olivia tells me that her mum is a famous photographer and her dad has a, how she calls it, "boring office job" and he works every day so she doesn't see him often, especially since she's going to the college. She tells me that she wants to be a marine biologist because the sea and ocean has always been interesting and mysterious for her. I think it fits her, she actually lools like a marine biologist.
Samantha then tells me some interesting things about herself. Her parents are both lawyers, working together and sometimes even against each other in court. I can only imagine how hard this has to be, especially when it's about cases like murder when one of them has to defend a murderer. Samantha also says that that sometimes caused arguments in her household and her parents didn't like it at all when such a situation happens.
Samantha's job interests are very different from her parents ones. She explains to me that she either wants to be a psychologist or a painter or both, because she always loved analizing people and wants to learn more about the humans mind. She also chose the psychology and art course.
I also find out that we have maths ll, biology, history and pe together, that can be a lot of fun.
I have to ask Thea which courses she has, I hope we share many!
When we finally get our lunch after what felt like an hour, we sit down and eat our spaghetti with tomato sauce, just as I guessed.
As a dessert we have delicious mousse au chocolat and I could eat 10 of them, I'm really a chocolate fan, I've ever been since I was born. But that was a family thing, chocolate has an average survival rate of 5 minutes as soon as it crosses the threshold into my house.
We talk more and I also tell them about myself, but there's not much to say. I neither have an idea about what I want to be, nor have I any interests in things lile math, literature or anything else. The only thing I truly enjoy is watching netflix shows all day, eating sweets and other snacks and sleeping.
I can't tell them anything interesting about my life! Even my parents jobs are not even close to theirs, my dad is an engineer and my mom is a secretary in an elementary school.
My life compared to theirs is so boring, I notice this even more when they start talking about their vacations. I've never been outside of the state, my parents neither have enough money nor enough time, one of them always has to work.
Lilian is going on vacation to Caribbean islands every summer break! She tells me a lot about it and I'm so jealous. The white sand beaches, palm trees and the cocktails, that's my dream since I was little. I always wanted to life a beach life and surf or snorkel whenever I want and get a tan while relaxing or reading at the beach.
I just love the sun and summer, winter is always too cold for me and I'm freezing all the time during the cold months.
>> Maybe I can convince my parents to go on a summer vacation too. <<
I'm thinking, while eating the last noodels on my plate. The food was by the way unexpectedly delicious and tasted like freshly cooked, I can definitely get used to that.
>> Let's go out and walk around the campus when Olivia has finished, I'm sure Madeleine wants to see all other things we have here! << Lilian says and I nod.
