The police officer had rushed Eraser Head and Present Mic the distance from Shibuya back to UA. It took a while, but they made it.
The two heroes rushed through the school's gates and quickly ran through the halls of the main building towards the office of Principal Nezu.
"Oh hey, Mr. Aizawa's back! Hey, teach!" Someone called after them. Eraser Head recognized the voice as Kaminari's. They ignored him, focusing on the more pressing matters that demanded their attention.
They ran right up to the principal's office and Present Mic quickly knocked on the door.
"Come in." Principal Nezu's cheerful voice approved their entry.
The two heroes quickly entered the room, and Eraser Head closed the door behind them to secure their privacy. He had no idea what prying ears might be listening.
Nezu was sitting at his desk with — as always — a small cup of tea in his hand. He looked up from some papers at his desk.
Eraser Head went to speak, but the animalistic man did so first.
"I didn't think you'd be back so soon." He looked over the two pro heroes. His brow furrowed and he tilted his head to the side as he noticed something. "Where are your support items?"
"We were ambushed," Eraser Head answered bluntly, making the attention in the room turn to him. "Call Tsukauchi; we need him here right now." He knew that he was coming off harshly, but he needed to convey urgency. This was something that needed to be addressed right there and then.
Nezu obliged, reaching over to the corner of his desk and picking up his phone. He called Detective Tsukauchi, who said that he would rush right over in the next half-hour. The principal also ended up calling Recovery Girl to the office to patch up some of Present Mic and Eraser Head's smaller gashes and bruises. Miraculously, despite the circumstances, neither of them were all that injured.
——
"There's nothing I can do for this, Aizawa. I'm sorry," Recovery Girl said apologetically as she hovered her hand near the cut and stitches on the side of Eraser Head's face. He had sat down on the couch so that he would be within the short woman's reach.
He pushed her hand away. "Yeah, it's fine." He shifted his jaw. He had hoped that the old nurse would've been able to do something about the black strings that were stitched into his flesh, but much to his dismay, she couldn't.
Just as Recovery Girl finished her work on the two heroes and was about to leave, a knock came from the door.
"Come in," Principal Nezu said from his place now standing beside the couch.
The door opened and in walked Detective Tsukauchi.
"Hi," he greeted. He held the door open for Recovery Girl to exit, and once she was gone he closed the door.
"Welcome, Detective Tsukauchi," Nezu greeted back.
"You sent us right into an ambush and got us taken as prisoners," Eraser Head stated bitterly towards the detective, not letting anyone else start off the conversation.
The officer frowned. "The police force thought we took all the necessary precautions to make sure that didn't happen, and for that, I apologize."
The erasure hero's jaw set. An apology isn't good enough.
"They knew we were coming," he added. "They had a well thought-out plan and sedatives to incapacitate us. Someone tipped them off."
"We still haven't gathered a sufficient amount of evidence to say that anyone within the school is a traitor," Nezu interjected, preventing the erasure hero from further berating the detective.
"The League got onto the school's grounds," Present Mic stated, getting off the previous topic. "We're not sure what they did, but they wanted to get to Eri."
Nezu put a paw up to his chin in thought. "I didn't know that. We'll need to up our security."
"It wouldn't have mattered," Eraser Head said, "they used Himiko Toga's quirk. She transformed into one of us and probably walked right through the gates."
Nezu looked between the two heroes. "Well, to put you both at ease, I am certain that Eri is safe. I saw her earlier with Hado and she seemed to be perfectly fine."
The two of them nodded, both breathing a sigh of relief.
"On the upside, we got some information on Puppet Master's quirk." Present Mic's words caught Detective Tsukauchi's attention. "She can take manual control of her souls one by one. As a downside, she can't use her any physical part of her quirk and also loses all awareness of her real body."
The detective pulled out a notepad and pen from his coat pocket and scribbled some notes onto a page. "I'll add that to the file."
"What happened while you were prisoners of the League?" he asked them.
"They took us for information," Present Mic answered.
Eraser Head jumped in to add on. "They didn't torture us, but I wouldn't doubt that they were willing to. They used me as leverage to get information from Mic. Long story short, we eventually gave them the information."
"How did you get out?" Tsukauchi asked. "From my understanding you arrived here in a police vehicle."
"They had us in locks and chains, but we were kept in the same room," the erasure hero explained. "We waited until we thought the villains were gone, then Mic used his quirk to break some chains and a bobby-pin to pick the remaining locks. We collapsed the building after the League started to come back."
Tsukauchi waved his pen to gain attention. "Speaking of which, I was told before I came here that the remains of Kenji Hikiishi were found in the rubble of the building you escaped from."
At that news, the two heroes frowned.
That wasn't the goal, Eraser Head thought. Nonetheless, that's one less villain to deal with later.
There was a moment of dead air, so Tsukauchi started speaking again. "The information you gave me on Puppet Master is useful. Next time—"
Eraser Head snapped, immediately cutting off the detective. He jumped up to stand. "They would've killed us had we not been useful to them! They infiltrated the school grounds and could've killed if they felt like it!" he yelled at the other man, waving a frustrated hand through the air. "There is no 'next time'! I'm done going after her, so don't ask me again!"
Eraser Head turned away and stormed out of the room in a full fit of rage. He was done; if Tsukauchi planned to send someone back out after any member of the League, he was determined to not let it be him.
"Aizawa, wait!" Present Mic called after him, but the erasure hero was already at the door. He grabbed the door's handle, ripped it open, and stepped out, slamming it shut behind him for good measure.
Once the room fell silent, there was a soft, disappointed sigh from Principal Nezu.
"I'll go get him," Present Mic volunteered, starting to stand up.
"No, leave him," Nezu advised. At his words, the voice hero sat back down. "He needs time and space."
"In the meantime"—Tsukauchi flipped to a new page in his notepad—"Mic, is there anything else we should know?"
He shook his head, slouching on the couch. "Nah. Just..." he sighed," keep a close eye on everything — be really careful with the League. They never told us what they planned to do next."
The detective nodded. "We'll keep careful watch on their movements and let you know if anything happens."
