The rustling of leaves beneath their feet was a constant reminder of the danger that lurked around them. Colby's heart was pounding so hard in his chest that he could feel it in his ears. He couldn't help but fret about all the things that could go wrong, and he knew that if he made a mistake, it could be fatal. Suddenly, Sam's hushed voice broke through the silence, signaling that it was safe to move forward, "Clear," Colby, Jake, and Devyn darted ahead, their eyes scanning the area for any signs of danger.

Colby couldn't help but feel like he was being watched, the dark starry night seeming to make the situation worse. Jake and Devyn stayed close to him, making sure he knew exactly what to do. There wasn't a single trace of people, which only worried the gang further. Where was everybody? The cool wind whipped around their faces, brushing through their hair. Jake went ahead of them, zipping around trees.

Devyn stayed at the same pace as Colby, making sure to keep him safe. Despite her petite size, there was a lot of courage and strength inside her, and she was very quick with motion. "Colby," She said, catching his attention.

"Yeah?" Colby asked, panting slightly from the running.

"You're in charge of going ahead with Jake into the building, he'll lead you there while Sam and I keep watch." Everyone was now gathered around her, listening to their plan. They were huddled behind the building, making sure they weren't in the line of sight.

With a gulp, Colby nodded. "Alright, got it."

"Since when did I agree to this?!" Jake whisper-yelled, throwing his hands in the air discretely.

"That's what I'm saying!" Sam whisper-shouted as well, agreeing with Jake's opinion.

"You didn't, but it's for the sake of this mission. Sam and I are good with guns, we can shoot from afar if needed. You and Colby are good at scouting, well, at least you are."

"Hey!" Colby grumbled.

"Fine, I'll do it."

"You didn't have a choice anyway," Devyn said, smirking a little. Colby rolled his eyes as Jake huffed. "Press the button on the walkie-talkie if needed, we'll be right here," Devyn stated, pointing to her walkie-talkie where a small, red button appeared to be attached. Colby nodded unsurely, still feeling anxiety bubble up in his chest.

"Good luck," Sam whispered encouragingly, earning a small smile from Colby.

"Thanks, I'll need it."

And with that, Jake and Colby made their dash around the building. "Lead the way, dude," Colby whispered, following Jake. Jake nodded, looking around. Jake wanted to make sure nobody was around, his eyes darting around his surroundings. Nothing was seen, no person, no movements, no animals, no nothing. Jake continued to search, this time for an opening.

Out of nowhere, Colby's eyes caught something.

A small window which leads to the basement of the building. "Jake!" Colby whispered, catching the black-tipped-haired male's attention.

"What?!"

"Look! I think I found an opening." Colby whispered, pointing at the small, box-like glass window.

"Perfect, that should be good enough."

Suddenly, Jake whipped out a hammer from his back pocket, causing Colby to shriek. "What the- Jake, what the fuck?!" Colby screeched quietly, stepping back as he saw Jake get ready to swing.

Wind whipping across Colby's face, Jake swung the hammer, crashing through the glass. Shards of glass flew around them, the rest falling to the ground. A moment of silence took place, until Jake spoke up, "We had to get in there somehow."

Colby just stared at him with shock written over his features.

"Not like that!"

Jake blinked, dumb-founded. "Well, how else were we supposed to get in?" Colby groaned, running a hand over his face.

"We could've just- You know what? Never mind, let's go."

Jake smirked, nodding. Both of them crawled through, Jake going ahead as he was in charge of Colby not getting hurt. Climbing through, the setting changed instantly as dark decorations littered the secret room. "What the fuck is this?.." Colby whispered with a tiny bit of shakiness in his voice. Jake shrugged, grasping Colby's wrist and pulling him near his side.

"Dunno, but we gotta stay close," Jake whispered, eyeing the room skeptically as he felt uneasiness settle in his gut. Colby nodded, mirroring Jake's movements as he felt a sense, one he couldn't describe. A small light bulb flickered above them; It was a dull light that didn't provide much. The room was bare except for the small cracks and indents in the walls, dark splotches of liquid covering them.

It seemed to be blood.

Colby's eyes caught the scenery of a staircase leading upward, his heart thumping against his chest. "Hey, Jake," Colby whispered, catching the man's attention. He pointed his finger toward the staircase, realizing there was a door. "What's up there?" He asked, his voice quiet as it was below a whisper.

Jake smirked.

"I guess we'll find out."

Tip-toeing toward the staircase, he climbed slowly and carefully. Colby covered his mouth, stopping himself from gasping. Gulping, Colby followed, climbing the stairs behind him, and taking small steps. Jake grasped the door handle, his breath hitching a little as nervousness surrounded him.

Biting his lip, Jake pressed, turning the handle to the side slowly. A small click was heard, Jake cringing a little as he hoped that wasn't loud enough for anyone else to hear. "Clear," Jake whispered, keeping his eyes on the hallway in front of him. Colby nodded, following his lead. Jake slowly stepped forward, glancing at every crevasse around him, making sure nobody was near.

Both Jake and Colby were met with a hallway with dimmed lights; The hallway went straight down toward darkness where no possible exits were available except behind them. "Should we?.." Colby murmured, his voice quiet. Sighing lightly, Jake nodded, determination locked in his eyes.

"Yeah... let's do it."

They took small steps, trying to keep themselves as quiet as possible. Both of them were close to the wall, their shoulders barely grazing over the small and rusty bricks. A sense of dread piled up, a knot swirling and tightening in Colby's abdomen.

Something was wrong.

"Jake?-"

Suddenly, the sound of a gunshot rang throughout the air. The brunette's eyes widened as loud footsteps bounced off the walls in other rooms. Loud shouts were heard, the sound of crying and more flowing through the air in waves.

"Fuck, dude, we gotta go over there."

Colby's eyes widened even more.

"What?! Are you fucking crazy?" Colby whisper-shouted.

Jake grinned, a tiny bit of sadness in his eyes.

"Yeah, maybe I am crazy. But this isn't the time to bring that up, we need to go investigate or attack."

Colby sighed, nodding.

"Fine, let's go get our asses killed."

Colby grinned with him.
