(TW there's blood. Also I tried out a new format for the dreams. And also... THANKS SO MUCH FOR 100 READS!)
Sophie was fed up. Annabeth had finally started talking, and said she'd found the note under the courtyard tree at exactly 7:07pm. Jolie had tried to tell her that time had nothing to do with this, but Annabeth wasn't convinced. Sophie had stayed up almost all night with the search parties and dealing with the plague. It was literally almost five in the morning. Why couldn't Annabeth control herself? Sure, they were best friends, but Sophie still called her a fucking weirdo to her face. Annabeth didn't respond. That was weird, because that was something that they would usually have an argument about.
Sophie was finally able to lay in her bed. Some search parties were still out, and Jolie had woken up early so she could take care of the plague. However, Sophie couldn't sleep. That was bothering her the most. She didn't want to think about the dreams she was having. Hell, she didn't want to think at all. Sophie stared at the dark ceiling. "Don't you dare give me any more dreams! They're stupid and useless!" She yelled to nothing. Silence. It was weird that Keefe wasn't there, sleeping next to her. He had gone off looking for Stina. Sophie sighed, rolled onto her side, and finally, uneasily fell asleep.
She is in that hallway again. The exact same one, no difference whatsoever. She starts walking. As she walked, she noticed the clock was now nonexistent. That was fine, since she didn't care anyway. It feels weird to walk, like she's carrying a really heavy weight. She's feeling so many things at once, yet nothing happened. One part of her wants to stop and sit down, and the other wants to keep going, keep reaching. She sees the door on the side. She opens it. It's a room. A bathroom. The lights are off. She fumbles around to find a light switch, but there is none. There's a figure standing in the bathroom, but she can't see who it is. Loud whispers of her name. Someone screams her name. It sounds so familiar and close, yet so distant and uninviting. She is yanked out of the bathroom and the door slams shut. She pounds on the door, without even knowing why. She no longer existed, nor in control of her body. She is banging on the door, screaming and yelling for help. Suddenly, she is inside of a shed. She's trying to open the door. It's locked. She's a girl in a white dress. It's so cold, so very very cold. She starts crying and yelling louder. She's trying to ignore the amount of blood on her arms. She keeps yelling and pounding on the door. She's tired, like she's been running for ages. She waits for the door to unlock, so she can run free, but it doesn't. It never opens. There's someone behind her. She doesn't want to turn around. She's pounding on the door harder than ever. She screams whenever she can, in between sobs. The screams turn into screams of pure terror, as she is attacked by whatever is behind her. She's hit with a hatchet. Blood everywhere. There's a huge cut on her side. She tries to stand up, but she's hit in the head. She was so dizzy. She refused to faint, refused to die. She couldn't see clearly. Blood was dripping out of her mouth. She can't see clearly, can't see who did it. She grabs the nearest thing beside her, which turns out to be a heavy metal bucket. She stands up. She doesn't know how and doesn't care. Perhaps it's her will to live. She whirls it around and it hits whoever attacked her in the face. They fall. She is so dizzy and can't see properly. She can feel the blood running in her brain. She grabs a nearby hammer and beats the absolute shit out of whoever attacked her, yelling and screaming. She knows that whoever it was is dead, but she keeps attacking and hitting and screaming. Eventually, she stops and drops the hammer onto the floor. She turns toward the door and walks toward it. There is a lot of pain. She opens it successfully. Then more pain. She is shifting between Sophie and the girl. Sophie is Sophie again. She is at the end of the hallway at the top of the staircase. She doesn't notice it immediately, but she has the same wounds and the same pain and the same guilt. She tries to step down the stairs, but falls down them and bleeds more. Even though it's dimly lit, she can still see the amount of blood and writing on the walls. It hurts so much. She tries to get up, but she can't. It hurts too bad and there's a huge weight on her. She notices she can only see out of one eye, and then sees her other eye on the floor, detached and rolled away from her. She laughs quietly without meaning to, and finally falls unconscious.
Sophie jolts awake and is terrified of what has happened. She sat in her bed for a while, breathing loudly and heavily. She throws off the blankets and storms into her bathroom. She stares at the mirror. I am me, she reminds herself. No more of that weird girl with the white dress. She moves her hair out of her face. She gasps loudly and leans closer to the mirror.
She has a scar on her face in the exact same spot as the girl who got hit with the hatchet in the head.
