I woke up to loud booming sounds and loud thuds on my door. I knew something was wrong. I quickly dressed, careless of what I wore and clipped on Mamas pin under my sweater. I stumbled down the stairs to see two German soldiers in my house with Mama talking to them. Thank gosh she knew German. Papa walked over to me.

"We have to leave." Papa said with tears in his eyes.

"What? Why Papa? Why?" I shouted as panic crept over me.

"Shhh, Adina. We don't know." My papa shushed me.

"Take a few special belongings with you. Hurry Adina, go."

Hearing that I ran to my room and grabbed my favorite doll that My Grandma made before the war, my new telescope, and Elianas present. I stuffed it in a bag and ran down stairs. Mama had a picture of Papa and her before the war. Papa held nothing but his glasses and a picture of us. The Germans pointed with there gun where to go. I followed outside only to see my whole neighbor hood outside lined up, guarded by German soldiers. I clutched on to Mamas hand and looked around. I spotted Eliana and made a "what the heck is going on" kind of face to her. She shrugged back. I sighed as I followed the German. Once we were all in line, they started throwing our belongings in the center of the line. When the soldier stepped in front of me I did not hand over a thing. He stared at me.

"Nein. Nein. Nein." I said directly to his face.

"Adina! Obey!" Mama said.

Holding back tears, I put my belongings in his arms. He threw it all in the pile, breaking it all. I turned and looked down at my pin. No one was getting this. The German talked to us and my mother translated for me.

"We are going somewhere else. We will be taken on that bus." Mama said pointing over to a ratted, faded yellow bus with broken windows.

Before I could speak, a German grabbed Papa by the shoulder. Mama was not letting his hand go.

"I love you." My mom said in a soft whisper.

"I love you too Mareen." Papa replyed.

Their hands slowly slid away and Papa was taken away along with a few other men.

"Papa! Papa!" I shouted at him.

"Adina!" He weakly shouted back.

I let the tears run down my eyes as I walked to the bus with Mama. Papa was no where in sight. It was all quiet. No one said a word. I rested my head against Mamas shoulder and quickly fell asleep.
