Chapter 6- Bus ride

The door slammed behind me. I just stood there shocked to see about twenty girls of all ages standing in a line against the wall.

"Line up" a short German man yelled.

I ran to the end of the line and stood up straight. As the Germans whispered to each other I looked at the girls in the line. If we were never in a room together you wouldn't have noticed but there was one thing in common. Everyone had blonde hair and blue eyes. Why? I asked myself. It couldn't be just a consequence. There had to be a reason. I snapped back to reality when a German smacked his fist on the table.

"Undress.Now." He said strictly in Czech.

I never knew he was serious in till he handed us undergarments. I looked around and all the girls were changing. I had no choice except to obey. I grabbed the undergarments and quickly changed in the corner awkwardly. All the girls then lined up in their original spots once they finished. A young female Nazi came up to me.

"Name."

"Adina Redgra."

She scribbled something on her check board then told me to follow a few of the other girls to a different room. When we walked in they weighed each of us and wrote it down. It seemed like a normal doctors checkup. They looked at out ears, nose, mouth, and heart beat. But then we sat down at a table. People checked our hair and compared it to other cut out pieces on their table. The lady cut off a huge chunk of my hair and put it on her desk. I just sat there shocked. But there was nothing I could do. I wanted to scream, and run away. But I knew that would not work by just having common sense.

Another Nazi came up to me with what looked like tongs. He put them on each side of my nose then scribbled a note down. He did the same with my forehead. I still didn't see how this is part of a doctors check up. He ran his eyes over the hole clip board.

"Perfect. Just perfect!" He said.

I stood up awkwardly not knowing what I did to make them happy. After they have me new plain white clothes and they directed me to a bus with a few girls sitting down. Everyone's head turned as I sat down quietly, not knowing where to look. I worried about everything, my papa, my mama, and Eliana. Thoughts were running through my my mind faster than ever and it took a lot of strength to not curl up into a ball and cry forever. A German guard came to us and told us in Czech that we were off to some place safe where no one would hurt us. No matter how many questions we asked about the where a bouts of this "safe" place he would not budge. He left out the doors and the engine kicked in putting the bus into motion.

It wasn't until I looked up I saw Eva has been staring at me. Eva, the one who had never made friends, or even showed emotion started to bawl. I wanted to comfort her, hug her, and tell her it would be okay. But I just say and clutched onto Mamas pin I had snuck. I knew this was the time I had to stay strong. I looked out the window to only see acres of flat land. I leaned my head against the window and drifted to sleep.
