I opened the door to find Eliana smiling at me. I hugged her and pulled her inside my house. Her blue eyes twinkled when she looked at me.
"I can't believe it's only two days away!" Eliana practically screamed.
"I know! Now let's get planning." I said with a huge grin on my face.
She nodded her head in agreement and we scurried to my room with a paper and pencil.
"I wonder what my present is from Mama and Papa." I said out loud.
But since the Nazis had come to Czechoslovakia three years ago, everything had been rough, so I was not going to get my hopes to high. Eliana just smiled then let out a giggle.
"You know don't you!" I said.
Her smile just grew wider. I then grabbed her shoulder and she burst out laughing.
"What is it?" I asked.
"I can't tell you! It's a surprise." She finally responded.
I groaned and put down the paper on my wooden desk.
"Mama said there wasn't even enough sugar for a cake, how could there be a present?" I asked.
"You will just have to wait and see!" Eliana replied.
After talking off topic, we then decided what games we would play, and who would be invited. Mother insisted I should invite Eva, but I begged her not to. Eva insults everyone and she puts in no effort to make friends.
"She will ruin it Mama!" I exclaimed.
"Now Adina, you know things have been hard on her since her mother died. You must invite her!" Mama said.
I huffed and stormed off to my room where Eliana sat. We started making invitations for everyone, including Eva. When we were done it was quarter after ten so Eliana went home quickly. It was just tomorrow my party would begin. At 10am everyone would gather in my backyard to celebrate by sixteenth birthday. I went downstairs and said goodnight. Then I ran upstairs and lay down where sleep took over my body.
Thanks for reading. This is just like a filler chapter but it gets interesting in chapter five :)
