*Míguels POV*
---------------------------------------
As I walked into the house behind Ella with Hazel behind me, I heard a door slam. Then, my moms voice from the kitchen, "Míguel! ¿Por qué Ella tormenta en su habitación de esa manera? Que pasó? Hazel, ¿qué hizo con ella?!"
(Míguel! Why did Ella storm into her room like that? What happened? Hazel, what did he do to her?!)

"Mami, I-"
"MÍGUEL GOT A TATTOO!"
Hazel yelled back nonchalantly as she moved to the living room which was by the kitchen and flopped down on the couch. I shot her a glare as my beautiful mother ran to where I was by the front door.

"Míguel, ¿qué has hecho a ti mismo!!"
(Míguel, what have you done to yourself!!)

She gasped as she saw my bandaged chest.

"MÍGUEL GONZALEZ! I CANT BELIEVE YOU! FIRST, I GOT A CALL FROM THE SCHOOL SAYING YOU HAD GOTTEN INTO A FIGHT AND WAS MISSING, THEN A TEXT FROM HAZEL SAYING YOU TOOK THE CAR OFF OF CAMPUS AND THEN TOLD HER AND ELLA TO 'GET A RIDE' AND YOU GET A TATTOO WITHOUT MY PERMISSION UNDERAGE!! AND YOU'RE WALKING AROUND SHIRTLESS!!!!!I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH YOU. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF?!"

"Mami, look." I said softly, revealing my tattoo; trying to make her understand.

She glanced at it and continued on, "Like I wanna know what you've branded on your skin? I least it's small and not YOLO (A/N: I get you Mami Gonzalez, I really do.) but, do I even care? Is it not bad enough that my only son has disrespected me and all our ancestors by marking his beautiful skin with-"

"Mami, It's arabic. It means Walter."

She stopped and looked at me.
"Oh, Míguel." she said softly. I hugged her tightly.
"I'm still upset with you Míguel. You're not off the hook yet." she mumbled into my chest. I laughed softly.
"Hate to interrupt this sweet moment, but...," Hazel drawled, suddenly appearing behind my mom, "What's for dinner Mami?"

"Arroz con pollo (rice and chicken A/N: It's a Spanish dish where the yellow rice and chicken are cooked with many different spices to give flavoring.) Go check on your sister Hazel."

*Ella's POV*
*************

I lay on my bed crying. I can't believe Míguel got a tattoo. But it was more than that. It was the boy today, Mike. The boy Míguel beat up. He wasn't a helpless freshman. He was a bully. Working for my #1 tormentor, Josh.

Míguel, Hazel, Rose, Josh and I; We're all Juniors. Josh dated me last year. He began to call me bad things. After a few weeks, I asked him why and to stop. He slapped me. I immediately broke up with him. When we broke up, I told everyone it was because we had lost interest in one another.

Since then he has apologized multiple times, sent flowers and chocolates, asked me publicly to get back together and even threatened me. I didn't accept the apologies, threw the flowers and chocolates out, denied the public requests, and told him I wasn't scared of his threats. I was. He has stopped bothering me himself, but sends his cronies to do his dirty work instead.

Míguel doesn't just beat kids up for no reason. He overheard Mike calling me a bitch. Thats why he beat Mike up. Later that day, I found a note in my locker. It was folded up too thick to have been slipped in through the slits, so I know it was someone telling me something and I already knew that they knew my locker passcode.

The note said: 'Your Cousin can't always protect you.' I knew it was from Josh. I know Míguel will come in later to ask me why. I should tell him, but I don't want to seem weak and admit that I'm being bullied. I'll make something up. Right as I decided that's what I'll do, the door opened and Hazel came in. "Ella, I don't get why you're so upset. Míguel got the tattoo to honor his abuelo (grandfather)"

"I know." I chocked out through my tears.
"Aww baby," Hazel said as she sat on the bed and began rubbing my back, "Bad first day?"
"You have no idea."
"Wanna talk?"
"No."
"Okay."

Hazel stayed with me rubbing my back until Mami called us for dinner. Hazel helped me wash my face and we walked out together.

After dinner I went back to my room to think about my situation. Right as I shut the door Míguel caught it and walked in. I sighed and sat on the bed, knowing what's about to happen. Míguel sat on my desk chair and began.

"Ella. I heard what that boy called you today."
"It's nothing. I was in his way and he tripped over me. It was an accident, that's all."
Míguel looked at me in silence for a minute.
"You're lying to me. You were crying earlier, I heard you, and it wasn't because of my tattoo. Freshman boys don't go around calling Junior girls bitches. I looked him up in the school records after I talked to Hazel in the office. This is one of his first times in trouble. He's a good kid. There's a bigger picture here. You think you can lie to me and cover it up but I know something's happening Ella. I know you too well. If you won't tell me, I'll find out myself."
With that he walked out of the room leaving me to think and cry myself to sleep.

A/N:
Wow. Someone's been finding time to write. A double update. A short chapter. A plot twist. Question: Did you see it coming?
Mami Gonzalez does NOT like tattoos.
Ella knows a lot of things.

Also, if the Spanish in this book is wrong or off from the translations, I have an explanation. I use google translate because I'm not a Spanish speaker. So, if the Spanish is off in this book, that's why.

Okay, this is a very serious issue that happens to a lot of people daily. Abuse. I know this happens to a lot of people so I decided to write about it in hopes of raising awareness about this issue. If you are getting abused by your boyfriend or girlfriend, don't do what my character is doing. You'll see what happens to her. Tell people, call the domestic violence number. Get help.

Be kind to each other, and Till my next update ~ Rosee
