The Iron giant: Hogarth meets Deirdre

Chapter 15

Giant marched across the forest. The kids and Rover enjoyed the thrill of it, feeling the cool air blow against their faces.
"Now, this is the life!" Deidre whooped and tiled her hair back, the wind cascading through her hair.
Hogarth cocked his Bebe gun and hollered,
"Alien at eight o'clock. Eat this!" He shot at the imaginary alien, and shot down a couple more.
"Targets are down. Giant, shoot that mother ship down with your Powerful laser eyes!"
Giant aimed is laser eyes at the "mother ship" and blasted it.
"Hey, let me take down some aliens!" Deidre grabbed the gun form his hands and banged at a whole fleet of imaginary foes.
"The fleet is down, General Hughes!"
"Nice job, Soldier!"
Rover wanted to join in on the fun. He began to growl and bite at the aliens, he jumped around and about fell of Giant's hand but Hogarth caught him in time.
"Rover, be careful. You've could have fallen to your death!"
"Aww come on, Deidre! He just snared down several alien! He's a good and brave boy, aren't you, Rover?" He nuzzled the dog's head, and Rover barked in agreement, eyes shining and tail wagging. Hogarth and Deidre laughed.

They continued to play the game for a least a hour before they heard Giant's stomach grumble.
"You're hungry already, aren't you?"
Giant nodded.
"I guess we should head over to the scrapyard, then", Hogarth said.
"I'll make sure he doesn't eat Dean's art work." They headed towards the scrapyard.

At the junkyard, Hogarth and Deidre hanged out while Giant stuffed his face full of metal (thankfully not any of Dean's artwork, which Dean thanked Deidre for doing). They ate overstuffed Twinkies. Of course Rover wanted some, so they gave some to him, though he got very hyper and tear through the scrapyard, knocking over piles of scrape and Dean's art work. Dean tried to stop the dog from making a huge mess, chasing him around.
"Hey, cool it, man! You're making a mess around here."

Rover knocked over a scrape tree Dean had just made yesterday, breaking it.
"God dang it! Come on! You shouldn't have gave Rover Twinkies, guys. This dog's bouncing off the walls!"
Hogarth and Deidre laughed hard. So did Giant.
"Don't worry Dean, he should start to pass out just about....."
Deidre waited unit Rover stared to wind down. He curled up in a ball on Giant's foot and fell asleep.
"Now."
"Thank god." Dean picked up the broken sculpture, fuming slightly.

Hogarth turned to Deidre.
"I think it's time for a car ride. You coming on with me?"
Deidre put her fists on her hips, glaring at him.
"Hogarth, you know I can't be spun in that car in circles! I'll get sick!"
"Well, you didn't the last time. Come on, trust me, it'll be fun. Please Deidre, please?"
Hogarth begged and begged unit Deidre irritated said,
"Alright! Alright! But if I'm puking up my guts after this, it's going to be on you."
They got into a broken down car and Giant lifted it into the air, shaking it as if the engine was on.

"Alright, set the engine of full power. Ready for take off in FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO...ONE! BLAST OFF!!" The giant stated to spin the car around and around at high velocity. Hogarth and Deidre screamed as the acceleration force their bodies back, gripping the staring wheel. "I THINK IM GONNA BE SICK!!!!" Deidre's voice vibrated. Her face started to turn a light shade of green and covered her mouth.
"STOP THE CAR, GIANT! STOP THE CAR!! NOW!!!!!" Giant obeyed and stoped spinning the car, gently sitting it down. Hogarth and Deidre stumbled out the car, their hair ruffled by the wind. Deidre's face was greener with sickness and she rushed into Dean's house for the bathroom to throw up. Dean watched with concern.

"Well, I think she's going to toss out all her Twinkies. You went a bit too fast with that car, big guy." Giant said a sincere, "Sorry." Dean shook his head and chuckled. Deidre wobbled out of the house, her face still a little green. She glared at Hogarth.
"Hogarth William Hughes Jr.! I'm not EVER doing that again, no matter how much you beg me. Oh, no, I'm not doing it!"
Hogarth shrunk in the presence of her scowl. When ever she glared, it was enough to make him feel uncomfortably hot, nervous, and very quiet all at the same time. It worked like that for just about everyone, especially Hogarth's friend. That would make her a force not to be reckoned with.

Hogarth threw up his hands defensively, "whoa, whoa! I'm sorry, okay. I won't ask you again. But I do think your hair's cute when ruffled." Hogarth ran his hand against his own ruffled hair. Deidre's melted into a warm smile that made Hogarth tingle and laughed light heartily which was pleasing to his ears.

"Alright, I forgive you. But only this one time. If it's happens again, I'll shoot you with your Bebe gun."
They both laughed and gazed into each other's eyes, mesmerized in each other's presence. Deidre blushed deeply, while Hogarth grinned his cute smile, which made Deidre blush even more.
