After recess was astronomy class. Deidre was happy to see her father, even Hogarth as he knew he was going to be a great teacher.

They entered the classroom with Mr. Franklin greeted the kids warmly.
"Why, hello my students. Welcome back! I ask you kindly if all settle down to take your seats.
Everyone got in their desks and listened in.
"My name is Mr. Franklin, and this year I'll be your Astronomy teacher. The first thing that we will learn this year is also the beginning of the universe we live in- the Big Bang, also known at the Big Bang theory."
Jeremy asked,
"What's the Big Bang?"
Mr. Franklin laughed.

"Well, son I was about to get to that part. The Big Bang is a single event that led to the creation of the universe. It all started 13.8 billion years ago. There was nothing but vast blackness. All black, silent space but except for a single, tiny Point of energy. Suddenly in much less than a second, that point of energy exploded and from there the universe was born and begun expanded. In the course of millions of years, the objects in space that we know of, such as Planets, asteroids, comets, stars, you name it, was formed."

"The amazing  thing is, the universe is still expanding today and would continue for forever." The students, especially Hogarth and Deidre were listening carefully, deeply interested by what they were learning. It was amazing how everything that existed came from just a tiny point of energy. It was fascinating to know such a thing.

"The big bang is a important thing to know about. It tell the beginning of the life story of our universe. We are a mere part of it, and should be very proud for that. Just thing about that for a moment."
Everyone took that in for a moment before Mr. Franklin said,
"Alright. For our first assignment, we will make a diagram of the big band. We will learn about the steps following the Big Bang and we'll but that into a colorful and creative diagram. Be creative.
The students agreed happily with this. At least they won't be doing a boring worksheet. Hogarth and Deidre looked at each other smiling.
"Your dad is so cool. I wish all of our teacher were like him."
"Yeah you bet."
They turned to the front and listened as they learned about the events following after the big bag.

Later that day after school, Deidre ride him with her father, Mr. Franklin putting her bike in the back of the truck.
"So how was school, honey? Did you enjoy or was okay at least?"
"It was all right. I think I did well in class, though I have a feeling the teachers are not quite fond of me. It like they don't like me for who I am. Well, that's what I'm thinking, anyway."
Mr. Franklin but a warm hand on her shoulder and assured his daughter,
"Deidre, baby. Do not think that way. I'm sure the teachers don't dislike you. If they do, then don't mind them. You are perfect and brilliant just the way you are. Nothing can change that."

Deidre smiled at her father, thankful for the advice.
"Thanks, dad. I really needed that advice. I made a new friend today. His name is Jeremy. Two boys were bullying him so I had to stick up for him. I wasn't afraid of those boys one bit."
"That's my strong headed girl. You're happy having Hogarth and your other friends around, aren't you? Especially Hogarth?" Mr. Franklin wiggled his eyebrows.

"Of course. What do you mean?"
"It means that I know you've been kissing Hogarth. Mrs. Hughes told me, and she wasn't quite fine with it. You know how she can get."
Deidre froze her face tuning a bright shade of pink.

"You've known about that? Why didn't you tell me or at least scowled me about it like a normal dad would?"
"Deidre, everyone had their first kiss at some point in their life, even when they are ten. I met your mother at 11 years old and I her fist kissed her at only twelve."
"You did? What what did grandma and Grandpa say about that."
"They flipped out and whipped me with a belt. It stung  so bad I could barely sit down for a week."
Deidre laughed as he winced remembering the pain.

"Thing was, I didn't really care about that. I was overjoyed to have kissed the girl of my dreams, which made the whipping was so worth it."
"I'm glad about that. So I guess you're fine that I kissed Hogarth."
"Of course. Just make sure to not to do it in front of Mrs. Hughes." Mr. Franklin winked.
"Sure, alright, Dad, just don't talk about it too much."
"Whatever you say, baby girl." They rode the rest of the way home talking.
