Description of idea: As a quirkless child in a world filled with quirks, Izuku Midoriya was treated like he was inhuman, a being worth less than the gum under someone's show. His once close friend, Katsuki Bakugo, turned his back on him and started tormenting him both physically and mentally. Izuku's fellow students and even his teachers started tormenting as well, leaving Izuku to feel like practically the whole world wanted him dead. The only glimmers of light in his life filled with pain and misery were his mother, Inko, who still supported Izuku's dream despite his quirklessness, and Izuku's fellow student at Aldera, Reiko Yanagi, who looked past Izuku's quirkless label and saw him as a kind-hearted and determined boy who wanted to make his home country a better place.

However, life would continue to be cruel to Izuku and those he cared for. One night, Izuku and Reiko witnessed a tall girl with fox-like traits being cornered by a group of thugs. While the duo was able to save the girl, their actions had significant costs as Izuku not only got a nasty scar on his left eye, but Reiko lost her quirk after the thugs shot her with a bullet that contained some experimental drug while they fled the scene. Reiko soon became the target of physical and verbal abuse at Aldera alongside Izuku. Izuku insisted that Reiko transfers to another school to escape the pain, but Reiko refused to leave her only friend behind to suffer alone. If all that was not bad enough, Inko and Reiko's parents would both meet a tragic and abrupt death as they were both killed by a neglectful hero who was not paying attention to the collateral damage caused during a fight with a villain. Their deaths resulted in Reiko and Izuku being placed in an orphanage that had no interest in putting in the effort to care for qurikless kids. Despite all the pain and neglect the two kids faced daily, the two continued to push on, with both of them holding onto their dream to become a quirkless hero duo who could save anyone with a smile. However, that dream changed on one fateful day.

After Bakugo destroyed Izuku's hero journal, which he happened to receive from Inko the day she died, and gave Izuku his infamous advice of taking a swan dive off a roof, Reiko retaliated in anger. She socked Bakugo in the jaw, though this would only infuriate the egotistical blonde as Bakugo began to assault Reiko with explosions. Izuku tried to help her, but Bakugo's goons restrained him, so he could only watch in horror as Bakugo hit Reiko with a point-blank explosion right to the face, causing Reiko to lose sight in her right eye, and just like always, no one bothered to help the two quirkless kids. As the two were walking back to the orphanage after Izuku applied first aid to Reiko, the sludge villain was about to attack Reiko until Izuku pushed her out of the way. Now Reiko was the one watching in horror, unable to help as she saw the only source of happiness in her life suffocating. However, her sense of horror diminished when she witnessed Izuku being saved by his idol, All Might. Reiko smiled, thinking that Izuku would finally get that confirmation that anyone could be a hero, even without a quirk, from someone that he greatly admires. However, that smile turned to an expression of disbelief when she heard the number one hero tell her friend that a person can't be a hero without a quirk, followed by the hero leaving the two friends alone on the rooftop.

At that moment, Izuku broke down and let all his pain and anguish out as Reiko comforted him. However, she was shocked when Izuku exclaimed that her life was miserable because of him and that it would have been better if they never met or if he had never been born. This exclamation from Izuku resulted in him getting slapped by Reiko. Izuku looked at Reiko only to see that she was now also crying profusely. She hugged the boy for dear life, exclaiming that he should not say things like that and that if it were not for his friendship, she likely would have taken her own life years ago. After over an hour of the two friends just embracing each other and crying into each other's shoulders, they both looked at the edge of the rooftop that they were standing on and then at each other. With neither of the two willing to bear seeing each other experience any more pain, they nodded as they both came to the same decision: they would both take Bakugo's advice in the hope of having a better life together in the afterlife. As the two stood at the rooftop's edge, they interlocked their hands, looked at each other, and smiled before jumping.

When Izuku and Reiko woke up. They were shocked yet relieved to see that they were still together even after dying. However, as the two looked around, they found themselves in a location that did not look like the afterlife described in books but rather the underworld. This was only validated when the two realized they were face to face with two high-ranking demons from another realm, Beezlebub and Megicula. Izuku and Reiko would only continue to be shocked as they both learn that they are the reincarnations of two powerful magic wielders, Zenon and Vanica, who were the former hosts of the devils speaking to them. The two devils proceeded to offer the two quirkless kids an opportunity to be resurrected and form a contract with them, which would not only grant the two kids the magical abilities of their respective devil partner but also the magic power of their previous incarnation. Izuku and Reiko were skeptical and hesitant about making a deal with the devils speaking to them, wanting to understand what Beezlebub and Megicula wanted in return. Respecting their request, the two devils explained their motives behind creating the contract, which caused both Izuku and Reiko's eyes to widen. After processing what they just heard, Izuku and Reiko looked at each other and nodded their heads in agreement as they both shook the hand of their new respective devil partner.
