Description of Idea: Ash expected a few things when he returned home to Pallet Town after winning the first-ever Alola League. He was expecting his mom to hug him and ask dozens upon dozens of questions about his time in Alola during dinner; he was expecting to be greeted back home by some of his old Pokémon from previous journeys. However, one thing the black-haired boy was not expecting was to be asked to quickly come to Professor Oak's office at his research lab by his former traveling companion Tracey before Ash could spend even an hour back home.

Ash, curious about why the professor wanted to see him so urgently, followed his olive-green-haired friend to Oak's office. Upon arriving, the acclaimed Pokémon researcher informed Ash that after the Ultra Wormhole incident that took place during the climax of the Alola League, several unique Pokémon that were thought to have been long extinct had suddenly been spotted on a chain of islands located between Kanto and Johto called the Sevii Islands. Oak then asked Ash if he could travel to the islands to investigate and try to capture some of these formerly extinct species of Pokémon .

Ash was somewhat perplexed. While he was incredibly excited to have the opportunity to try to catch Pokemon that were long thought to be extinct, observing and catching Pokémon for research purposes seemed to be more of Gary Oak's area of expertise rather than his own. When the black-haired boy asked Oak why he was asked to do this little research expedition instead of Gary, Oak responded that Gary was already in a snow-swept region far away from Kanto, investigating a similar phenomenon.

Oak then mentioned to the black-haired boy that in addition to finding and catching never before seen Pokémon, going to the Sevii Islands would give Ash the chance to participate in the Sevii League, a regional Pokémon League challenge exclusive to the Sevii Islands that just started about a month ago. Oak then showed Ash some footage on his computer of some trainers battling some of the gym leaders who help manage the Sevii League. Some of the trainers seen taking on gym leaders in the footage include a teen boy with messy black hair and blue eyes, a young man with long dark blue hair that covers one of his eyes, and a teen girl with tan-blond hair tied in pigtails. A huge smile formed on Ash's face upon seeing the footage of many familiar skilled trainers challenging this new league. Not only would he get the opportunity to catch new Pokémon on this adventure through the Sevii Islands, but he would also have the chance to take on many strong trainers and maybe become the first-ever champion of the Sevii League just like he did in Alola recently.

With his decision made, Ash accepted Oak's request and proclaimed that the next chapter on his road to becoming a Pokémon master would take place on the Sevii Islands. However, the black-haired boy could never have anticipated just how many familiar faces he would see on this next chapter of his journey and how the events that would take place during his adventures through the Sevii Islands would affect his long-term goals and ambitions.
